Jeremiah Reedy earned his bachelor's degree in Italy, a master's degree in Classics from the University of South Dakota (1960), another master's (1964) and a Ph.D. in Classical Studies from the University of Michigan (1968) where he specialized in classical philology and comparative linguistics.
Reedy was the founder and director of the Macalester Center for the Teaching of Humanities which was funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities and which sponsored three summer workshops for high school teachers of humanities.
Dr. Reedy was the co-founder of a Core Knowledge Charter School located in the "Frogtown" area of St. Paul, and he served as president of the Board of Directors from 1997 until 2005.

Kayak and I proceeded into the reedy area, which appeared murky as though it may be shallow; but, frequent paddle dipping indicated at least 4 feet of water or more (since I was never able to touch bottom mud).
For the next 20 minutes or so of light paddling, the murky, reedy waterway continued for about 100 yards before reaching a very dead tree on the right at which point it was apparent that a bigger clearer waterway was ahead.

A week later, the vessel got underway at 1000, "Captain" Wunderle at the helm, and headed back toward League Island, where she took on board her main battery, a three-pounder gun, and installed it the next day.
