Later, the Evangelical and Reformed Church merged with the Congregational Christian Churches (itself a combination of Congregational and Restorationist churches) in 1957 to become the United Church of Christ.
The Reformed Church in the United States is a member of the North American Presbyterian and Reformed Council as well as the International Conference of Reformed Churches.

The German Reformed churches in Lunenburg county, Nova Scotia, became Presbyterian in 1837; a German church in Waldoboro, Maine, after a century, became Congregational in 185o.
In 5906, according to Bulletin 103 (1909) of the Bureau of the United States Census, the Church had 1736 organizations in the United States, 1740 churches and 292,654 communicants, of whom 177,270 were in Pennsylvania, and about one-sixth (50,732) were in Ohio.

A Reformed Church Constitution was adopted, a Synodal Ordnung; an official name was taken, The Synod of the German Reformed Church in the United States of America, and a hymnbook committee appointed.
The newly independent German Reformed Church, short of pastors and threatened by a revivalist gospel, established a seminary in 1825, at Carlisle, Pennsylvania, that moved in 1829 to York, in 1837 to Mercersburg and finally to Lancaster in 1871, where it became Lancaster Theological Seminary.
They acknowledged the error to which the church in all ages had been subject, urged an end to sectarianism and pretensions to be the one true church and criticized prejudice against Roman Catholics.

The denomination known as "The Reformed Protestant Dutch Church in North America" until 1867, when the present name was adopted, asserts with Protestants generally the sole sufficiency of the Scriptures as a rule of faith.
In 1910 the Dutch Reformed Church numbered 728 ministers, 684 churches, and 116,815 communicants (statistics of Dr. Carroll in the "Christian Advocate", New York, 26 Jan., 1911; this statistical authority is cited throughout for the United States).

The United Reformed Churches in North America is a new federation of churches formed on October 1, 1996, at a synod meeting held in Lynwood, Illinois, succeeding an organization known as the Fellowship of Uniting Reformed Churches in North America which had been formed in 1995.
This was adopted by the Uniting Churches on November 16,1995.
