  Ink 19 :: Refrigerator
Allen and Dennis Callaci, brothers and the mainstays of Refrigerator, have been making unassuming yet heartfelt albums for the better part of a decade, to the general deference of the American indie scene.
Whereas the YMG album bristles with the tension of English post-punk, Bottles is a distinctly American work, with shuffling country and folk traditionalism coursing through many of the songs here.
It lends the album a friendly, lackadaisical feel amplified by the brothers' shaky harmonies and the occasional flubbed note or bad tuning.

Refrigerator (album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Actually untitled, the tape is usually referred to as Refrigerator because of its artwork, which resembles a fridge door.
The cassette was limited to 100 copies, each of which contained one of five different pieces of "refrigerator artwork" drawn by a member of the band.
The tape itself came in a cassette case with an insert decorated like the door of a refrigerator, which could be "opened" revealing the tape inside.

 Refrigerator Article from Puncture #41
Refrigerator was born in 1990-'91, when the aforementioned drummer, also an occasional housemate, kicked himself out of the band.
Their approach can be an acquired taste--I've heard people say they didn't like Refrigerator until after seeing them half a dozen times; and it can have a strange effect whenever the band make it over Kellogg Hill for a rare show in L.A. proper.
Most of all, I envy Refrigerator for the way they suggest a story, sum up a friendship, or commemorate an entire city with two chords and a few words; or the way that, live, they can be self-immolating and genuinely moving at precisely the same moment.

Although this album made the band huge mainly due to the singles "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" and "Two Doctors", two of the catchiest singles of the early-90's, their success was brief as their preceding albums lacked the hooks and memorable tracks that were featured here.
This is the album that started it all, introducing the world to one of the best bands (and later, one of the most underrated) of the 90's.
Listening to this album, you can't help but think that were it released in 2001, rather than 1991, it would have been as popular as it was then.

The old refrigerator substituted for Mother’s wisdom when Alzheimer’s disease robbed her of her quick intelligence and vibrant personality.
As her illness became too much for me to bear, I often found myself sitting on the floor in front of the refrigerator, weeping into a dish towel.

Refrigerator : How You Continue Dreaming - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect   (Site not responding. Last check: )
Refrigerator's work displays a serious bent toward indirect, navel-gazing tunes that sprawl out in many directions, and nowhere is this more clear than on How You Continue Dreaming.
The 20 tracks on this double album have a lazy drawl to them that's typically more emotionally upsetting than it is beautiful.
The albums which followed swung this sound through prettier areas (Anchors of Bleed) and into more accessible pop (Refrigerator), but their heart is still the elliptical languor that makes How You Continue Dreaming so irresistible.

Refrigerator is the influential project launched by brothers Allen Callaci and Dennis Callaci (vocals and guitar) in Upland (not far from Los Angeles).
The first professional and cohesive recording was the album How You Continue Dreaming (Communion, 1995), an adult and romantic concept dedicated to their own suburban community Spastic guitar and psychotic singing address domestic issues with the fair play and the vulnerability of a drugged-out hippie (Son House, Colton).
The progression towards well-formed songs continued on Refrigerator (Shrimper, 1998), that boasts a slab of garage-rock (Young Confusion) and a trancey application of the velvet Underground handbook (Somehow).

 Phil Kelly Music - Reviews
The album is full of works of big-band majesty, able to emulate the high points of Woody Herman and Count Basie with ease as well as covering new ground in the traditions of the '60s cinematic orchestras.
Kelly's compositions and arrangements are the primary stars of the album, with the ability to "simultaneously sound loose and tight," as one critic paradoxically put it.
The album closes on a horn-based gospel groove of sorts with "The Refrigerator." Given the dearth of good big-band arrangers out there in recent years, Kelly is a bright spot in a slightly rarefied field.

Steinman returned to another of his lyrical obsessions, Peter Pan, for his next project, Neverland, in 1975, by which time both he and Meat were touring with the National Lampoon show (in which they had replaced Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi).
The process of landing a deal for the completed songs was to prove even more tortuous than the conception, which itself took two years.
The closest point of reference - and an ironic one given some of the musicians later involved in the recording - was Bruce Springsteen's passionate and epic "Born To Run" album, released in 1975.
