The regatta is scheduled to take place March 6 to 9 2008, with the additional day of sailing, the Budget Marine Commodores Cup to take place on the Thursday March 6th.As in the past, there will be nightly concerts on all four nights and competitive sailing will take place during the days.
Participants from all over the world are entering the regatta and an expected 2500 sailors will grace the sunny shores of St.Maarten to sail, party, eat and enjoy the islands many activities.

At last night's regatta dinner at the Sheraton Hotel Station Square, the regatta board handed Mayor Murphy a check for $100,000, twice the amount the board had been scheduled to repay this year.
Regatta Management Inc., which runs the regatta's operations, gave the board the money to pay the city and hopes to recoup it from regatta proceeds next year.
Roddey said the regatta, which the board oversees as a charitable event, would be able to give something back to the community within a few years.

The Regatta will be governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions of the United States Sailing Association, the rules and bylaws of the White Bear Yacht Club, the scantling rules of each fleet, except as any of these are modified by the sailing instructions.
This regatta is classified as a category B event in the accord with RRS rule 79, "Advertising", and Appendix G, but advertising beyond that is allowed in a category A event shall be limited to the clothing worn by the crew and the equipment carried by them.

The Regatta Course was a 2 mile round trip starting at the beach of the East Bay...out around Artist's Point....into the Grand Marais Harbor...around the bouy and back.
