Regency architecture - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Regency style of architecture refers primarily to buildings built in Britain during the period in the early 19th century when George IV was still Prince Regent, and also to later buildings following the same style.
Many buildings of this style have a white painted stucco facade and an entryway to the main front door (usually coloured fl) which is framed by two columns.
The term Regency style is also applied to interior design of the period, typified by elegant furniture and vertically striped wallpaper, and to styles of clothing; for males, as typified by the dandy Beau Brummell, for women the Empire silhouette.

English Regency - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The English Regency, or simply the Regency, is a name given to the period from 1811 to 1820 in the history of the United Kingdom.
If "Regency" is considered to be transitional between "Georgian" and "Victorian" then it would refer to the entire period from approximately 1811 until the accession of Queen Victoria, encompassing the actual period of Regency, along with George IV's reign in his own right and that of his brother William IV.
If "Regency" is contrasted with "Eighteenth century", then it could include the whole period of the Napoleonic wars.

So as not to exaggerate, it is true that during the 1795-1820 "extended Regency period", Englishwomen apparently generally did wear "stays" of some kind when dressed -- but such "stays" could be relatively minimal and unconfining, and generally were not intended to constrict the natural waist in the manner of Victorian corsets.
