Regeneration - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In Christian theology, regeneration is the process by which men are given new hearts; that is, the process by which they are "born again", experiencing a "new birth".
In inner-city development, regeneration or renewal is the improving of a poor or run-down area by a programme of investment in areas such as infrastructure or housing.
Regeneration is also the name of an episode of Star Trek: Enterprise which focused on this aspect of the Borg.

Regeneration (biology) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Regeneration is the ability to restore lost or damaged tissues, organs or limbs.
Children under 6 years of age are capable of regenerating lost fingertips and the human liver retains its ability to regenerate throughout a person's lifetime.
Regeneration of a lost limb occurs in two major steps, first de-differentiation of adult cells into a stem cell state similar to embryonic cells and second, development of these cells into new tissue more or less the same way it developed the first time.

 11. Of Regeneration.
What regeneration is, or what is meant by it, the nature of it; which is so mysterious, unknown, and unaccountable to a natural man, as it was to Nicodemus, though a master in Israel; now it may be the better understood by observing the phrases and terms by which it is expressed.
Regeneration is a passing from death to life; it is a principle of spiritual life implanted in the heart; in consequence of which, a man breathes, in a spiritual sense; where there is breath, there is life.
There are, in a regenerated man, which shows that he is made alive, cravings after spiritual food: as soon as an infant is born, it shows motions for its mother's milk, after the breast: so newborn babes desire the sincere milk of the word, that they may grow thereby.

 Regeneration
Theologians who favor mediate regeneration have tried to avoid this difficulty by contending that in both expressions, "out of the seed" and "through the word," the same truth is meant, and that the apostle in the first expression uses a figure, while in the second he speaks more literally.
The seed of regeneration, that is, the principle of the new life, is implanted by the Holy Spirit in the heart.
Of this regeneration the Savior also speaks to Nicodemus in the well-known words: "Except a man be born again, he can not see the kingdom of God."31 There is a difference of opinion with regard to the meaning of the word "born again.

Regeneration studies is a backwater even among biologists, who have been chopping the legs off salamanders for more than 200 years without ever discovering why some of them manage to grow back.

The nature of regeneration is of course variously conceived by different schools, according to their various views of the nature of the soul and its relation to God, of original or habitual sin, and of divine grace.
Regeneration is therefore essentially the communication of a new spiritual life, and is properly called a 'new birth.' (2) As to its efficient cause: It is effected by divine power acting supernaturally and immediately upon the soul, quickening it to spiritual life, and implanting gracious principles of action.
Others hold that there are two regenerations one a change of state or relation, and the other a change of nature; the first is baptismal and the second moral, though both are spiritual, since both are wrought by the Holy Ghost.

Regeneration occurs when the Holy Spirit takes the truth of the gospel message and allows the individual both to understand it and to commit oneself to it.
In regeneration each believer has put off the old way of life, become clothed with a new way of life, and is in the process of having one's mind renewed in its thinking, reasoning, and willing.

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Regeneration
Regeneration is a Biblico-dogmatic term closely connected with the ideas of justification, Divine sonship, and the deification of the soul through grace.
To the above-mentioned ideas of regeneration, generation out of God, participation in the Divine nature, and re-creation, a fifth, that of Divine sonship, must be added; this represents the formal effect of justification and is crowned by the personal indwelling of the Holy Ghost in the justified soul (cf.

Regeneration, therefore, is a spiritual resurrection, the beginning of a new life." Thiesseen says, "Regeneration may be defined as the communication of divine life to the soul, as the impartation of a new nature, or heart and the production of a new creation."
But regeneration is a direct act of God upon the spirit of a man. Truth cannot be the means of regeneration, because before a man is regenerated, he is blind and cannot see the truth, deaf and cannot hear the truth, dead and cannot respond to the truth.
Regeneration is a direct act of God upon the spirit of man. It is a spiritual resurrection.

Baptismal Regeneration teaches that the new birth is conveyed by the waters of baptism.
The methods and theology of those that practice "Decisional Regeneration" need to be examined-not with a malicious spirit, but with a fervent desire that all of God's people may be one in doctrine and practice for the glory of God.
The practice of "Decisional Regeneration" in the Church must be exposed in order to save men from the damning delusion that because they have "decided" or "signed a card," they are going to heaven and are no longer under the wrath of God.

"Regeneration" is the title of a Star Trek: Enterprise television episode from season two.
The episode "Regeneration" also provides some continuity to the Voyager episode "Dark Frontier" in which the crew of the USS Raven set out on a journey to find the Borg, and an earlier episode "The Raven" which detailed the circumstances surrounding Seven of Nine's assimilation aboard that vessel.
These events take place at least 10-15 years before The Next Generation episode "Q Who?", due to the fact that Seven is depicted as a child at the time of her assimilation, yet is a woman in her late 20s/early 30s at the time of her liberation.

Regeneration has much more depth and is clearly rooted far more in the writer's experiences than anything that went before, such as the set-piece concept of Promenade or the wry, detached observation which characterised Fin de Siecle.
Perhaps, then, what Regeneration adds up to and what makes it rather special is its ability to marry stripped-down beats and arrangements which suggest angst, with lyrics which are overwhelmingly positive.
