La beata Regina Protmann nacque nel 1552 a Braniewo (Braunsberg) nella regione polacca settentrionale della Warmia (Ermland), geograficamente vicina e storicamente legata alla Germania, in cui infuriava a quel tempo la Riforma protestante.
Regina Protmann visse nel periodo dei grandi conflitti spirituali, scaturiti dalla Riforma Protestante e dalla Controriforma in Germania, nacque a Braunsberg — Ermeland (Polonia) nel 1552 e nella sua città natia fu spettatrice dell’aspra lotta religiosa in atto, che le lascerà una impronta forte nella sua vita.
Dopo aver effettuato un disagiato viaggio in inverno, Regina Protmann ritornò ammalata al suo primo convento a Braunsberg, dove dopo una lunga e sofferta malattia, morì il 18 gennaio 1613.

Also beatified that day will be Sister Regina Protmann (1552-1613), who founded a congregation dedicated to care for the sick; and Edmund Bojanowski (1814- 1871), an educator who devoted himself to care for poor children.
Finally, on June 16-- the final day of his visit-- the Pope will canonize Sister Cunegonde (1234-1292) in the town of Stary Sacz.
