Regina is the provincial capital of Saskatchewan, Canada and was incorporated as a city on June 19, 1903.
Regina is the Canadian city closest to the geographical centre of North America at a latitude of 50°26′ north and a longitude of 104°37′ west.
The hamlet of Pile of Bones was renamed in 1882 to Regina (Latin for queen) by Princess Louise, the wife of Canada's Governor General, in honour of her mother Queen Victoria, the British monarch at the time.

Regina is situated on an ancient lake bed and is the only major city in Canada which does not have a major river running through it.

Post-secondary technical/vocational education was established in Regina when the Government of Saskatchewan granted approval to proceed with developing the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences (SIAAS).
The Regina Plains Community College (RPCC) was created and offered adult education programs that integrated educational opportunities to fit the ever-changing learning needs of adults in their work, family situations and roles as citizens.
This included a name change from Wascana Institute SIAST to SIAST Wascana Campus, the elimination of campus specific divisions, the formation of SIAST-wide divisions with provincial Deans (each responsible for programs at several campuses) and a Campus Director located a each campus.
