Henry Louis Reginald De Koven (April 3, 1859 – January 16, 1920) was an American and music critic composer of operettas.
De Koven returned to the US in 1882 to live in Chicago, Illinois, and later lived in New York.
His comic operas were popular, and as a composer of works of this description De Koven, like Victor Herbert, become famous throughout the country.

Flynn was at the top of his career in this film, before the studio started casting him in Westerns and war films justified by the international climate of the early 1940's (although he starred in another fine swashbuckler, "The Sea Hawk", in 1940), and before his legendary lifestyle started affecting his looks and performances.
Olivia de Havilland plays the Marian to perfection, and although "The Adventures of Robin Hood" was her third teaming with Flynn, this is the one which is most fondly remembered by film buffs.

And so, when an ad hoc group of musicians, provisionally known as "The National Symphony Orchestra of Washington, D.C.," took the stage of DAR Constitution Hall and played its first program on Jan. 31, 1930, a listener might have been forgiven for doubting the troupe's chances for longevity.
Included in the roster are three men -- James Conlon, Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos and Stephane Deneve -- who might conceivably be in the running to replace Slatkin.

The Reginald de Koven-Harry B. Smith light opera version of Robin Hood was originally presented in 1890.
The spectacle includes superb casting of memorable characters, a light-hearted, but spirited story, exciting dueling and action scenes requiring extensive stunt work, and the ideal love team of de Havilland and gallant Flynn with their witty and tender romantic scenes together.
At the head table with Prince John is the lovely Norman ward of King Richard (before he left on the Third Crusade), the seemingly demure and innocent, yet regal Lady Marian Fitzwalter (Olivia de Havilland).
