An irregular prime is a prime that is not regular.
Regular primes rose to prominence as a result of Ernst Kummer's work in the 1850's on Fermat's Last Theorem.
This is version 3 of regular prime, born on 2002-06-05, modified 2005-04-20.

 The Prime Glossary: regular prime
The mathematician Kummer called a prime regular if it does not divide the class number of the algebraic number field defined by adjoining a pth root of unity to the rationals.
It is relatively easy to show that there are infinitely many irregular primes, but the infinitude of regular primes is still just a conjecture.
Regular primes have an irregularity index of zero.

Regular prime - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A prime number p is regular if it does not divide the class number of the p-th cyclotomic field (that is, the algebraic number field obtained by adjoining the p-th root of unity to the rational numbers).
It has been conjectured that there are infinitely many regular primes.
Historically, regular primes were first considered by Ernst Kummer, who was able to prove that Fermat's last theorem holds true for regular prime exponents (and consequently for all exponents that were multiples of regular primes).

Mersenne numbers are primes that take the form 2 to some power, minus 1 - in other words, 2 multiplied by itself a certain number of times with 1 subtracted from the result.
The next largest ''regular'' prime number is 5, and the next largest Mersenne prime is 7, or 2 to the 3rd power (2x2x2=8) minus 1.

I will show that if a prime does not divide its class number, then this shows that a prime is regular (in other words, using the definition of regular primes, Condition (A) implies Condition (B)) and finally, I will show that 37 is an irregular prime.
