Rua Reidh transport picks up from Inverness railway station at 17.00hrs and drops off at 12 noon each Saturday.

It was also in 1962 the station designation was changed and Rua Reidh became a rock station which meant keepers did a duty of one month on and one month off with the wives and families living elsewhere.
Rua Reidh was manned in this way until 1986 when the light was automated and the Keepers house sold off to a private buyer.
Rua Reidh lighthouse employs five local people as well as Chris and Fran who work full time ; Paul who helps Chris guide the walking, Angela, his partner who is originally from Germany and is a great cook, Dianne who also helps with the cooking and two summer girls who keep the house clean.

We had excellent views for two days of an adult (around 6mts) and teenager (around 3 mts) Shark feeding close in to the shore around Rua Reidh.
The sharks had been around for a couple of days but it was great to sit outside at 10pm watching them and the setting sun.
Because of the higher than average rainfall this winter the spring flora is still hiding!.

This walk involves setting up a shuttle of two cars, one at the layby at Doo Lough and the other at along the road near the Delphi Adventure centre.

The bedroom was modern and spacious, the food was excellent, but what makes this hotel special is it's staff, friendly and helpful for the moment we arrived.
