Key cutting machine with a code selectable key duplicating system - Patent 5271698
A key cutter 990 is similarly laterally and longitudinally displaceable and is either mechanically or electronically interconnected with key follower 988 as indicated by dotted interconnect line 992 to enable key cutter 990 to reproduce the traced contour of the master key shank, shoulder and bit notch pattern onto key blank 936.
Key cutter 990 is laterally displaced to engage the shank 938 of key blank 936 at the longitudinal index position 994 to thereby define a lateral reference distance designated by reference line 1002 which extends between the upper surface of key shank 938 and first axis 956.
Key cutter 990 is simultaneously displaced relative to key blank 938 in an identical manner to that of key follower 988 to reproduce the traced contour of the master shank shoulder and bit notch pattern on the key blank.

Tubular key cutting machine - Patent 4022107
In making a tubular key, each bite is milled in the blank at a preselected angular position around the key tube, the bite being cut in the tube to a preselected radial depth and to a specific axially directed length, all as determined by the coded positions of the various parts of the machine.
The chuck carries the key relatively toward the cutter means until a desired radial depth of the bite is reached.
To measure the axial length of the bite 20 in the sample key 16' once the latter is located on the plunger 77, the plunger simply is pushed toward the cam disk 45 until the outside face of the tooth 81 abuts the end wall of the bite.

 Relative key
In music, the relative minor of a particular major key (or the relative major of a minor key) is the key which has the same key signature but a different tonic, as opposed to parallel minor or major, respectively.
For example, G major and E minor both have a single sharp in their key signature; so we say that E minor is the relative minor of G major.
Together with moves to the dominant (fifth scale degree) or sub-dominant (fourth scale degree), modulation to the relative minor or major are the most common in tonal music.

Key signature - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
For example, in the key of G major, the leading-note is F sharp.
Two keys which share the same key signature are called relative keys.
For key signatures with sharps, the first sharp is placed on F line (for the key of G major/E minor).

 Keys for XML
In defining a key we specify two things: a set on which we are defining the key (in relational databases this is a relation -- the set of tuples identified by a relation name) and the "attributes" (relational terminology for a set of column names) which together uniquely identify elements in the set.
To describe hierarchical key structures we introduce the notion of a relative key, which consists of a pair (Q, K) where Q is a path expression and K is a key.
Our main reason for writing this document was to clarify the notion of a relative key and to understand the hierarchical key structure that appears to occur naturally in a variety of data formats.

When a song uses the notes from a certain scale the accidentals for that scale are grouped together at the beginning of the staff next to the clef sign and are applied to the appropriate notes throughout the piece.
For instance, e minor is the relative minor of G major and F major is the relative major of d minor.
Each minor key has a relative major key whose first note is the third scale degree of the minor key.

The key of A minor can be referred to as the relative minor of C Major and conversely, C major is the relative major of A minor.

A key change is always positioned at the beginning of a bar.You can specify a change of key signature at any bar in the score.
In relative mode, the key change is applied taking into account any key difference between the two staves (due to transposing instruments).
Be careful, however: if you use custom keys, the program is not able to shift them up or down (it is impossible to determine whether accidentals must be added, or where).

Introduction: Major keys and their relative minor keys (notes in red box) listed according to the number of sharps.
Notice that the relative minor key (scale) always begins at the 6th note of the major scale, or 3 notes back from the octave of the same major scale.
The formula for the relative minor key is: 1-1/2, 2-1/2, 2 (i.e., 1 whole step followed by 1 half step, 2 whole steps followed by 1 half step, and 2 whole steps).

The idea behind RELATIVE KEY is to put all your records at the SAME Beats per minute (BPM), and calculate the new key at this tempo (BPM).
Relative key is more important for mixing, and will eliminate errors in key change due to speeding the record up or slowing it down.
Next thing you want to do is figure out the keys of both tracks at that relative BPM (which is the relative key) and get the new camelot number for those tracks at that BPM and then you will know how they will mix together harmonically.

To find the notes of the scale for the minor key, look up the scale for the relative major key but start from the root of the minor scale (which will be the 6th of the major scale).
When the two keys share the same key signature we say that one key is the relative minor (or relative major) of the other.

We have been looking at the Key of A. Because of the starting point we have been looking at and its relationship to the third tone from the starting point we can tell we are working in A Major rather than A minor.
What I mean by relative is that you can pick any starting point of a scale, or mode of a scale, and see its other relative key signatures.
The point is, each key signature is going to have six other relative key signatures because there are seven modes total meaning that they are all the exact same notes, just a differing starting or focus point.
