An NMR spectrometer was used to study relationship between NMR relaxation time and temperature, viscosity, diffusivity and gas/oil ratio of methane-hydrocarbon mixtures.
The relationship between diffusion coefficients and relaxation times were studied, and it was found that diffusion coefficients depend linearly on T1 for pure hydrocarbons, but the dependence does not hold for methane-hydrocarbon mixtures.
The log mean relaxation times were plotted against viscosity/temperature and it was found that unlike stock tank oils, they do not depend linearly on viscosity/temperature on a log-log scale.

N relaxation time are understood and can be related to the overall rotational correlation time of the protein (tumbling rate), as well as a component due to internal flexibility of individual segments of the polypetide chain.
Relaxation is a summation of processes by which magnetization decays over time, thus limiting the useful time of observation after exciting with an RF pulse.
Because each nucleus has a characteristic relaxation time that governs loss of signal while at that nucleus, the relaxation times have to be long enough to allow the pulse sequences to complete and generate a useful signal.

 Abstract
In contrast to the results of earlier deuterium NMR studies of furanose ring and backbone dynamics within the d(AATT) moiety, the furanose ring and helix backbone of dC9 display large amplitudes of motion on the 0.1 ms time scale at hydration levels characteristic of the B form structure.
At hydration levels corresponding to 10-12 waters per nucleotide, Zeeman relaxation times for the furanose ring and backbone deuterons of dC9 in B form DNA equal 0.025 and 0.03 ms, respectively, and are the shortest relaxation times observed thus far for any deuteron in the DNA dodecamer at comparable hydration levels.
Consistent with past solid-state NMR studies, the amplitude and rate of the uniform rotation of the dC9-labeled oligomer are found to be sensitive to hydration level.

 Research Interests of K.Pervushin
Studies of spin dynamics and nuclear relaxation led to formulation of TROSY (Transverse Relaxation-Optimized SpectroscopY), which is a new approach for suppression of transverse relaxation in multidimensional NMR experiments based on constructive use of interference between DD coupling and CSA [Pervushin et al., 1997, Proc.
The essence of this method is the use of the individual transitions in a given spin system to construct various NMR experiments.
An intriguing question concerning the structural role of the energetically very unfavourable buried salt bridges frequently found in all classes of proteins was addressed by solving 3D structures of the wild type 434 repressor protein and salt bridge disrupting mutants [Pervushin et al., 1996, J. Mol.
