  Psychometrics - Wikipédia
Psychometrics is the science of measuring "psychological" aspects of a person such as knowledge, skills, abilities, or personality.
A reliable measure may be consistent without necessarily being valid,.e.g., a measurement instrument like a broken ruler may always under-measure a quantity by the same amount each time (consistently), but the resulting quantity is still wrong, that is, invalid.
Internal consistency may be assessed by correlating performance on two halves of a test (split-half reliability); the value of the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient is adjusted with the rumus prediksi Spearman-Brown to correspond to the correlation between two full-length tests.

NSSE: National Survey of Student Engagement
The degree to which an instrument is reliable is an important indicator of an instrument’s psychometric quality.
The results were similar to the earlier study with the reliability coefficients ranging from 0.69 (level of academic challenge) to 0.74 (enriching educational experiences).
In 2003, we conducted a stability analysis to measure the strength of the associations between benchmark scores for 214 institutions that participated in the 2002 and 2003 administrations of the survey.

Reliability (statistics) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In statistics reliability is the accuracy of the scores of a measure.
Reliability estimates from one sample might differ from those of a second sample (beyond what might be expected due to sampling variations) if the second sample is drawn from a different population because the true reliability is different in this second population.
In classical test theory, reliability is defined mathematically as the ratio of the variation of the true score and the variation of the observed score.

 LAI 657 Quiz 2 Key
Reliability refers to the consistency or repeatability or stability of a measuring instrument.
Alternate-forms reliability (or parallel-forms reliability) -- This is the correlation between the scores on two different forms of the same test administered to the same subjects on different occasions.
This is a form of internal consistency reliability, and the Spearman-Brown procedure is often used to correct for the length of the halves in comparison to the whole test.

 NSSE 2002 Annual Report
Reliability is the degree to which a set of items consistently measures the same thing across respondents and institutional settings.
Another characteristic of a reliable instrument is stability, the degree to which the students respond in similar ways at two different points in time.
These analyses are based on 3,226 students at 12 institutions in spring, 1999, 12,472 students at 56 institutions in fall 1999, 63,517 students at 276 institutions in spring 2000, 89,917 students at 321 institutions in spring 2001, and 118,355 students at 366 institutions in spring 2002.

 Team Focus UK - FAQs
A psychometric test is a standardised method for assessing a mental or psychological attribute such as a skill, an ability or a dimension of personality.
Firstly you need to know that the test has been developed according to sound psychometric principles and whether there is evidence of its reliability (its ability to give consistent results) and its validity (its ability to assess what it is supposed to assess).
Reliability is essentially a measure of a test's ability to produce consistent results.

How Out-of-Level Testing Affects the Psychometric Quality of Test Scores - NCEO Out-of-Level Testing Report 2
Psychometric arguments for out-of-level testing are that the scores will be more precise and accurate measures of student ability for those students who would otherwise earn very low scores on the grade level test.
Reliability is a generic concept that is used as a barometer for the consistency or reproducibility of test scores.
Reliability provides information about measurement precision for a group of test scores, but it is a poor and often misleading gauge of the precision of a particular score.

The reliabilities are quite good across age and ethnic groups, although reliabilities on some scales with some groups may be somewhat lower.

But in counseling decisions the question of the reliability of a single individual’s responses is just as much a matter of concern as is the question of the reliability of the test being completed.
It is simply an odd-even reliability computed on a single individual across many scales, rather than the more usual odd-even reliability coefficient calculated on a single scale across many individuals.
Given the distributions of real and of random individual reliability coefficients, one can reasonably assume that individuals on whom a value of less than.20 is obtained can be categorized as probably primarily attributable to careless, non-purposeful, and/or unarticulated responding.

To psychometrically support a bipolar structure of style (see Kirton, 1994) scores on each of the four scales would be highly negatively correlated with one other scale and zero correlated with the remaining two scales.
Evidence of the internal consistency reliability of the scores produced by the LSQ is presented in Table IV, with alpha coefficients ranging from a low of 0.52 for Pragmatist to a high of 0.73 for Reflector.
Test-retest reliability over one year is indicated by correlation coefficients of 0.61 to 0.81 for the learning style scales, and a kappa coefficient of 0.71 suggests reasonable overall classification stability.

 adjudicationreliability
It can be noted that that this estimated reliability coefficient, having a numerical value of 0.656, should only be thought of only as an ‘upper-limit’ value, as this estimation value was obtained by having to assume that the correlation of ‘true’ PSSPQ scores with the ‘true’ adjudication decisions was perfect and equal to unity.
Psychometrically speaking, it is almost certain that the actual reliability for the Governmentally made adjudication decision is, in reality, much lower than the 0.656 value presented and discussed here.
When using well-constructed psychometric tests in applied situations, it is also the rule and not the exception, that the tests possess far superior reliability than do the involved validity criterion measures themselves.
