Remington M1867 – the standard rifle in the Norwegian Army – often did not eject the empty cartridge when the rifle had been fired for a while.
The bayonet was almost identical to the bayonet issued with the Remington M1867, but was numbered on the guard as opposed to the blade itself.
By comparing it to the Remington M1867, which was the standard issue rifle in the Norwegian Army, as well as against the standard service rifles of Germany, France and the United Kingdom at the time, it is quite clear that the Krag-Petersson suffered from having been designed for an outdated cartridge.

For those of you who may not be familiar with The Swedish Model 1867 rifles, they are well-made, impressive pieces.
The first ones were made by Remington for the Swedish government back in the 1870s, but the Swedes were later licensed by Remington to make them for themselves -- although I believe that Remington did provide the Swedes with a large quantity of actions as well.

After the Norwegian army had adopted the Remington Rolling Block, in 1867, many old chamber-loaders were altered to fire the same rimfire cartridge.
About 8,500 M1860 rifle-muskets had been made in 1860-7, issue beginning in 1862; 1,600 M1860-67 rifle-muskets were made specifically for the 12.17mm rimfire Remington cartridge in 1868-70, while thousands of old guns were being converted.
I am not aware of how many were made of this model, but the bayonet is virtually the same as for the Norwegian Remington, where the numbers start at 8745.
