  Star Trek: Nemesis
Star Trek: Nemesis is the tenth film in the Star Trek franchise and the fourth for the crew of the Next Generation.
After presiding the long-awaited wedding for his first officer William Riker (Jonathan Frakes, Star Trek: Insurrection, Trekkies) and ship counselor Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis, Heist, Paradise Lost), the crew of the Enterprise is called to the edge of the Romulan Neutral Zone.
Star Trek always has used futuristic issues to mirror today's moral dilemmas, and Nemesis plays on duality and the issue of nature vs. nurture.

 STAR TREK: NEMESIS - DVD
For a film in a tired franchise trying to duplicate Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (inarguably the best of the cinematic "Trek" line) down to an articulate arch villain, heroic sacrifice, and mind-meld cheat, the irony of having the central conflict revolve around a defective clone is delicious and hilarious.
Star Trek: Nemesis (hereafter Nemesis) is abominable pretension draped in the sheep's frock of sci-fi pulp--pap of the first water invested in undergraduate doubling subtexts and ridiculous stabs at existentialism reminding of the discovery of the wizard of God in the fifth Trek flick.
The Dolby Digital 5.1 soundmix is more undistinguished than that of Star Trek: Insurrection for belonging to a somehow talkier film, though any time the Enterprise is on a gimbal there is a vigorous amount of bass and some fury that trickles into the rear channels.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Star Trek 5 both might have been lacking in various areas (acting and budget, respectively), but they at least attempted some element of spectacle.

Maybe I'm missing something, but they just don't do Star Trek like they used to and for my money, Nemesis is a variable uninteresting suspense score attached to briefly great action score with a couple of the Star Trek themes thrown in.

Clocking in at 48:31 (quite lengthy for a Trek score album, but by no means long), Varese Sarabande presents Goldsmith's score in what appears to be chronological order--a nice touch that is rarely found on score albums today (most producers prefer a reordered structure, attempting to make the listening experience more 'balanced').

For the “Trek” purists, there are plenty of cameos and surprises sprinkled throughout, including one whopper that came as a complete shock to me. It was also nice to see this crew back in one place, working together to battle Shinzon.
“Nemesis” returns “Star Trek” to past glories, and since the film is billed as the final voyage for the “Next Generation” crew, this is a fine film to send them off on a high note.
While the movie implies much influence from Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, the character of Shinzon is masterfully played and is perhaps the most interesting character in the entire movie.

Star Trek Nemesis is the composer's fifth feature film score for the franchise (Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Star Trek: The Final Frontier, Star Trek: First Contact and Star Trek: Insurrection being, of course, the other four) and his themes have been used for both Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager.
In the case of Star Trek Nemesis this feeling was heightened all the more in that it reunited Goldsmith with director Stuart Baird.
Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) was Jerry Goldsmith's first score in the Star Trek series and was the very first digital recording of a motion picture music score.
