René Cassin Competition - 29 March to 1 April 2005
The 21st René Cassin European Human Rights Competition which are taking place from 29 March to 1 April at the Council of Europe.
A team of students from the Poitiers University won the 21st René Cassin European Human Rights Competition, beating the team representing the University of Paris Dauphine in the final on Friday 1st April.

French jurist and humanitarian René Cassin was one of the principal architects of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was adopted by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in December 1948.
In 1968 French jurist René Cassin was honoured with the Nobel Peace Prize as the author of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted and proclaimed by the UN General Assembly on Dec. 10, 1948.

For the fourth consecutive year, WCL was the only U.S. law school to compete in the Ren Cassin Human Rights Moot Court Competition.
Named after the French recipient of the 1968 Nobel Peace Prize, the Concours Rene Cassin was created in 1984 and is the largest moot court competition in which competitors' pleadings and oral arguments are entirely in French.
Competitors were evaluated on the form and content of the written memorial, rhetorical quality of the pleadings, knowledge of the Convention and its case-law, and the relevance and logic of legal argumentation.
