Laurie Bonnici has been awarded the 2001 Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship for her proposal "An Examination of Categorical Attributions Through the Lens of Reference Group Theory." Sponsored by ISI, the fellowship fosters research in academic librarianship by encouraging and assisting doctoral students with their dissertation research.
Her recent publications include "The Founding of the Library Leadership Institute at Snowbird: An Exercise in Leadership," (Library Administration & Management-in review) and "On the Shoulders of a Giant: Scientific Norms in the Education of Doctoral Students" with Dr. Elfreda A. Chatman (Library Quarterly-in review).
Bonnici, a doctoral candidate at the Florida State University School of Information Studies, received her bachelor's from Indiana University and her master's in library science from the University of South Florida.

Rena Fowler, chair of the selection committee, said “[Bonnici’s] project holds great potential significance to academic librarianship, and the committee sees in the candidate the potential for leadership in the field.” Bonnici is a member of Beta Phi Mu and a 1999 graduate of the Library Leadership Institute at Snowbird.

Hi Newscasters Who did I think I was, envisioning that my dream of being a snowbird might possibly come true or even half true.
Being back north gave me the opportunity to be in the presence of Deac and Rita Ouellette, their son, Gary and my daughter, Diane and their son, Timothy for a wonderful New Year's Eve dinner at The Continental in Saugus.
A good time was had by all and the Ouellettes have since departed to their snowbird nest in Florida.

Besides his life-long partner, he will be lovingly remembered by one daughter Teri and her husband Blaine; and one son Lawrence and his wife Tanya; and seven grandsons, Michael, Christopher, David and Matthew Ruttan of Calgary, Jordan, Taylor and Dakota Upton of Calgary; and numerous friends and family.

After I got over it and decided I didn't want to feel sorry anymore, in combination with meeting Rena (and not knowing her or anything about skydiving at the time) at my car insurance place, we got to talking.
It felt great to talk to her, especially since I've always surfed, wakeboarded, kayaked, etc, skydiving was right up my ally of things I wanted to do.
So, not long after my conversation w/ Rena, I showed up at the DZ, by myself, not knowing anyone and signed up for AFF1, having never done a tandem.

She is administrative librarian/electronic resources at the Delaware Division of Libraries, where was involved in the creation of Delaware: The Digital Library of the First State and is now working on a project to bring e-books to all Delaware public libraries.
In 1996 she was the department's succesful nominee to attend the annual Leadership Institute at Snowbird, Utah.
