For her second album Renée was invited to record in Melbourne with producer Tweed Harris (ex-Groove), who had assembled the cream of Melbourne musicians to work on the record.
Renée formed a strong bond in particular with members of Chain, and by the time the 'It's A Man's World' album was released and her version of the James Brown title song was a big hit, Renée was ready to throw her lot in with those musicians rather than be a solo performer.
While in America Renée became part of a group called Easy Pieces with former members of the Average White Band, but the album took so long to record by the time it was finished the group had never performed and were going their separate ways.

Renee then came on with a few numbers; I can't remember everything that was played, but she did do 'Summer, Winter, Spring and Fall', and 'Sweet Guy', with Paul quietly coming on stage and strumming his guitar during the latter.
Renee's voice is so powerful that I think that it was sometimes difficult for the two of them to sing at the same time, but they managed it well.
Renee sang a killer version of her old arrangement of 'It's a man's man's world'; this was almost the highlight of the night.

 A difficult woman - theage.com.au
When Renee Geyer went on Countdown in 1974 to sing James Brown's It's a Man's (Man's) World, she was an anomaly - an adult woman making adult music, on a TV show that catered primarily to pre-teen girls.
Geyer's career began while Australian music was in a juvenile phase, but the Countdown era, with its titles like "Queen of Pop", seemed quaint by the 1980s.
Geyer astutely moved to the US, to explore the soul directions evident in her late-1970s material such as Stares and Whispers, recorded in Los Angeles with Motown producer Frank Wilson.
