This Act allows for the reporting and the dissemination of information on family law proceedings subject to very strict conditions to protect the identity of individuals involved in family law litigation.

Cases from the Court of Appeal are reported in the series corresponding to the court the case originated, unless it was further appealed to House of Lords when it would be reported in the Appeal Cases.
Entries provide an extensive list of references to law reports and legal journals for each case (cited since 1947 even if case is pre-47) showing whether it has been considered, approved, overruled, etc. The entries also cite to the Yearbook where the case is digested.

The federal Megan's Law obligates states to require prison officials or courts to inform convicted sex offenders of their obligation to register with state law enforcement authorities and to re-register if they move to another state.
The state agencies in turn are to inform local law enforcement authorities, typically the local police department, of convicted sex offenders who reside in their jurisdiction.
Additional constitutional issues are whether a sex offender has a right to appeal a determination that he or she is in a category of offender who must register under the Law, and whether the determination can properly be made by prosecuting attorneys who participated in the original trial of the offender.

 MANDATED REPORTER LAW
By law, 29 named professionals (this number increases to 38 on July 1, 2002, the effective date of PA 02-138) and paid childcare providers working in licensed facilities are required to report suspected abuse, neglect, and at-risk situations to DCF.
DCF offers training sessions to these mandated reporters on such matters as recognizing abuse and neglect, what must be reported, how to report it, anonymity, and immunity and penalties.
Nine of the professionals required to report child abuse or neglect have laws protecting all or certain communications from disclosure.

We do stock some pre-1865 English law reports (e.g Aspinall's reports of maritime law cases, 1870-1940 and Durnford and East's reports, 1785-1800.) If we do not have the original series it is worth checking English Reports which reprints a wealth of older cases.
References to law reports are always in an abbreviated form.

BOSTON - A Boston attorney is spearheading a movement to pass a reporter's shield law in Massachusetts, prompted by cases across the country of reporters being held in contempt and jailed for refusing to reveal their confidential sources.
Newman said the shield law for Massachusetts would require state judges to make a determination whether the information being sought can be obtained in other ways and then to weigh how crucial the information is to the person seeking it against the rights of the journalist.
Lucy Dalglish, executive director of the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, said that while the number of subpoenas issued to reporters in state courts has remained fairly stable in recent years, the number of subpoenas issued to reporters by federal courts has exploded.
