Reprise - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In music a reprise is the repetition or return of the opening material later in a composition such as occurs in the recapitulation of sonata form, though it originally (18th century) was simply any repeated section, such as is indicated by beginning and ending repeat signs.
Reprises are common in musical theatre, where earlier songs are often repeated, usually with slightly changed lyrics to reflect the development of the story.
Reprise can also refer to a version of a song which is similar to, yet different from the song which it is based on.

A new version of "Silent Night" was assembled using an unreleased vocal track recorded by the late crooner in August 1991, which was conducted by his son Frank Sinatra Jr., arranged by Johnny Mandel and performed by many of Sinatra's former studio and touring musicians.
Initially intended for a children's charity project, Daughter Nancy Sinatra says of the recording, "It was an emotional day, because he was doing it for the children.
The other 15 recordings on the CD were culled from "The Twelve songs of Christmas" (1964), "The Sinatra family wish you a Merry Christmas" (1969) and all of Frank's Reprise-era holiday recordings.

You get your record played because it's a good record; because you know that the content of that record is going to be something that is going to work.
If that record doesn't respond, if the kids aren't buying it, if the kids don't call in and say they really like it, and if it doesn't research or whatever it is they do to figure out what radio knows, you're not going to have a hit, no matter what.
The only thing that brings kids and music fans into the stores to actually buy a record is that they are interested in what the band is saying, and doing, and playing, and what that's about.
