  Francisco Franco Bahamonde
In the summer of 1921, the overextended Spanish army suffered a crushing defeat at Annual at the hands of the Riff tribes led by the Abd el-Krim brothers.
This landing, in the heartland of Abd el-Krim's tribe, combined with the French invasion from the south, spelt the beginning of the end for the shortlived Republic of the Riff.
The Republic's failure to satisfy much of the popular expectation it had created and the fragmentation of the left-wing parties permitted a strong right-wing government to gain power in 1933.

He even swallowed the bitter pills of loss of seniority due to President Manuel Azaña's reform of the army and the closure of his beloved Military Academy with subsequent postings to A Coruña and the Balearic Islands, the main purpose of which was to keep him at a distance from other potentially disloyal elements.

 IBM/MS RIFF/MCI Specification 1.0
RIFF is not actually a file format itself (since it does not represent a specific kind of information), but its name contains the words "interchange file format" in recognition of its roots in IFF.
RIFF has a counterpart, RIFX, that is used to define RIFF file formats that use the Motorola integer byte-ordering format rather than the Intel format.
An element may not be a random chunk (except the RIFF chunk, indicating a RIFF file) or random binary data (unless the binary data is supposed to be treated as a file).

The Imperial Collection - The Republic of the Rif
The Government of the Republic of the Rif was established by Abel Krim on 1 February 1923.
The banknotes of the Republic of the Rif were produced by Captain Charles Gardiner, an English arms smuggler who was also involved in a syndicate that secured a number of commercial concessions from Abdel Krim's government in June 1923 - including one to establish a central bank.
It is not known where the two single-face notes were produced, nor in fact whether the 10 October 1923 was their intended issue date, or simply the date of Abdel Krim's agreement with Gardiner's syndicate.

Becoming the youngest general in any European army in 1926, Franco was appointed director of the newly created Joint Military Academy in Zaragoza, where cadets were taught the brutal lessons of the irregular war in Morocco.
He even swallowed the bitter pill of the closure of his beloved Military Academy and subsequent postings to La Coruña and the Balearic Islands, the main purpose of which was to keep him at a distance from other potentially disloyal elements.

Now, nearly four years later, the band delivers the followup to that album with Sound of the Republic, and despite my unwavering faith in the band, I must confess that it's not as flawless as its predecessor.
Take “Sound of the Republic” with its riff-heavy structure; the song seems to promise nothing it never delivers.
It's an odd frustration to explain verbally, but one that becomes increasingly clear when listening and one that is unfortunate.

Having created this command and power structure, al-Karim drove the Spanish back to a few coastal outposts, then began to attack the French, to his south.
In late 1925, the French and Spanish created a joint task force of over five hundred thousand men, then attacked the new Confederal Republic, which collapsed in May of 1926.

When Lyndon Johnson opted to dispatch troops to the Dominican Republic, he sent a clear signal to all of Latin America that the United States was prepared to use its devastating military power to maintain its tight hold over the region.
Yet Washington decision-makers were also certain that the Dominican Republic had to emerge from the Trujillo era with a civilian government, one that could command at least a modicum of community support.

 Bryn Mawr Classical Review 1999.02.11
Robert Mayhew's book concerns not the whole of Aristotle's criticisms of Plato's Republic but only those contained in Politics II 1-5, and these criticisms frequently seem to be more a riff on Republic 461e-466d than a careful sifting of the entire work.
Aristotle is criticizing Plato's basic approach to political philosophy, an approach that runs throughout the Republic: that of treating the citizens of a city as mere parts...
That question is clearly answered by the Republic, and it is difficult to justify Aristotle's use of it, especially given his apparent recognition elsewhere that producers have private families (1262a40-1262b7).

Much of the music also suggests a form of contentment- “Morning Paper” appears to be a simple tale of domestic happiness, and is unexpectedly profound in the feelings of emotional affirmation that it prompts.
Opener “Ghost of Daniel Boone”, though, with it’s neat pedal steel and piano riff, tells us “it’s hard to be happy with what you’ve got, when you’re shuffling across some parking lot, in a buckskin jacket”, so all may not be bliss after all.
Similarly ‘Tug of War (Twenty Arms)’ is built around keyboards and a guitar riff that start up and up-tempo and keep going through the stratosphere and arc back to earth before slingshotting back out and orbiting like a dying star.
