Inspired by the Republican Platform of 1872, which said: "The Republican Party is mindful of its obligation to the loyal women of America for their noble devotion to the cause of Freedom...," Republican women's clubs were off and running.
It was in 1938 that Miss Marion Martin, Assistant Chairman of the Republican National Committee, called a meeting at the Palmer House in Chicago to organize these clubs into a national organization.
States which had Republican women's clubs organized on a "statewide" basis - with 60 percent of their counties organized - sent delegates and alternates to that meeting with a request to affiliate with such an organization.

 Marion Martin of Maine: A Mother of Republican Women
Republican women's clubs had been campaigning for their party for over fifty years, but they went their own way and did not co-ordinate their work.
She saw the clubs as a training ground for Republican women, teaching them political skills even while it put them to work for Republican candidates.
Although not a feminist, she used her position to lobby for women, urging Republican governors to appoint them to state offices, pushing state parties to give them more seats to national conventions, and urging women to run for office.

By 1963 there were more than 100 local Republican clubs that were opposed to regulation of oil and gas and the integration of public schools.
That growth matched the national trend, and the majority of Texans voted for the Republican candidate Ronald Reagan and his running mate, the Texan vice-presidential candidate, George Bush, in the 1984 and 1988 presidential elections.
Texas is changing from a largely Democratic state to a largely Republican one, and Texas Republicans usually represent the most conservative wing of the national Republican Party.

The USC College Republicans and the recently registered Republican Youth Majority are two clubs that will be active in the campaigning and promoting of a GOP hopeful.
The Republican Youth Majority's program seeks to support "unconventional Republicans" such as GOP contender Steve Forbes and Gen. Colin Powell because their popularity is high among many Republicans, Challis said.
College Republicans, a recognized campus affiliate with the Republican Party, will be participating in precinct walks and campaigns on the national, state and local levels.

This big club is the oldest Republican club in America and possibly may be the best-financed Republican club in Queens.
This young club's officers are President Tom Lynch; Vice President Stu Mirsky; Secretary JoAnn Ambrosio; Treasurer John Santoro; Sergeant-At-Arms Dennis Sugrue; Chairman of the Board George Greco; and Board Members Kevin Moroney, Steve Greenberg, and Rosemary Kelleher.
The club is the New York State Young Republican Club for 2003.

 Oklahoma Federation of Republican Women
As a club president, Long became an active member of the OFRW Board of Directors, serving in various offices and as state newsletter editor, before her election as State President in 2001 and reelection in 2003.

 The Iowa Origins of Organized Republican Women
At the Republican convention of 1892, Iowa lawyer J. Ellen Foster stood before the delegates assembled in Minneapolis to introduce the Women's National Republican Association.
With this presentation Foster was proclaimed by the Republican National Committee as the mother of organized Republican women.
In 1884 the Republican Party blamed the Prohibition Party for the loss of the White House to Grover Cleveland, the first Democrat to be elected President since 1856.

The Nevada Federation of Republican Women is a branch of the national organization which provides a means through which women who share the principles of the Republican Party can join its activities and work toward common goals.
