In the wake of September 11 we have coined a term that encapsulates the events of that day, the horrors of that day, the losses, sorrow, anguish, fear, and rage of that day—the unspeakable hideousness of it all.
eptember 11, 2001, was the 60th anniversary of the commencement of the Pentagon's construction, and a number of those involved in the Pentagon's renovation program, which was well under way on that day, made a mental note that morning of the significance of the date.

Eight FDNY rescue workers were evaluated for chest pain, and one EMS worker was admitted for suspected myocardial infarction; after evaluation, none was found to have coronary artery disease.
During the 11 months after the attacks, 1,277 stress-related incidents were observed among FDNY rescue workers, a 17-fold increase compared with the 75 stress-related incidents reported during the 11 months preceding the attacks.
Because of disaster conditions after the attacks, some rescue workers who presented to hospitals or treatment centers for emergency medical treatment and were treated and released without admission and never required medical leave might have remained unreported.

Modeled after a program that provides health insurance for injured volunteer forest firefighters, this bill provides federal health insurance to individuals suffering injuries and/or health problem as a result of the September 11th Terrorist Attacks.
In the definition of eligible recipients, all efforts were made to include any person who suffered adverse health effects as a direct result of the terrorist attacks of 9/11 in New York.
