 TWAS 298: Shampoo, Baxendale, Fosca
If there were ever a band that deserved to either evaporate the moment the dollar signs vanished from the eyes of their major-label AandR drone, or expire the moment drugs could no longer stave off the official conclusion of puberty, or both, it was Shampoo.
If you thought Shampoo represented a triumph of belligerent attitude over musical craft, surely Lolita Storm have reset expectations for the extreme to which that concept can be taken (albeit, in my opinion, by dispensing with music entirely, which is not at all the same thing as dispensing with musical technique).
Shampoo are older, but they aren't that old yet, and the most honest meta-message childhood stories (including stories of the tentative transition out of childhood) can deliver is that preternatural wisdom can wait.

This is a band that currently has everything going for them and is beginning to pick up momentum which will hopefully carry them across the ocean and to a US tour at some point in the not too distant future.
Arguably one of the best bands on the face of the planet, The Grand Silent System have served up five releases that show a undying creative vibe, a mastery over their instruments, unrestrained artistic expression, and a lyrical approach that redefines the word cryptic.

Splendid Magazine reviews Voyager One: Monster Zero
Voyager One is that rare band that's as cool as their influences.
Reset", the creature comes back, and Voyager One delivers the wallop they've quietly developed in their secret lab -- a grand, rocking climax that sustains a noisy, industrial, trumpet-laden ride until the afterglow of the closing tracks, "Praise the Lowered" and "Tokyoidaho".
Their music betray obvious hints of My Bloody Valentine, Medicine, early-to-mid-'80s Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen and David Sylvian, but none of these is necessarily favored or imitated; Voyager One examines the energy from all of those sources, learns from it, and then builds upon it.

Instead, the Christian market moved faster on the EP than the mainstream, and before they knew it, Mute Math was, against their desire, tagged a "Christian band." Frustrated, the band has finally had the LP pressed, but is only making it available at live shows, with no intentions of releasing it to the Christian market.
Mute Math's intentions for the Reset EP were different, with hopes for greater mainstream distribution.
The demise of rock band Earthsuit gave birth to Mute Math, a then-three piece alternative act that brilliantly blended electronic and ambient elements with pop hooks and meaningful lyrics.

However, contrary to numerous stories, before finding the articles in the Bell System Technical Journal it was discovered by many, some very unintentionally and to their annoyance, that some Bell System trunk could be reset by a 2600Hz tone.
In 1955, the Bell System Technical Journal published an article entitled "In Band Signal Frequency Signalling", which described the process used for routing telephone calls over trunk lines with the current signalling system (back then), R1.
Famous phone phreaks such as Joe Engressia (Joybubbles) and Bill from New York trained themselves to be able to whistle 2600 Hz which would reset trunks.

The band's obvious hit song from Reset is "Control," a huge-sounding pop-rock track that conjures the Police; other tracks from the EP are trippier and less blatantly catchy.
Keeping with this trend in recording their major-label debut (for Teleprompt Records, a Warner Brothers imprint), the members of New Orleans trio Mute Math are already falling behind in making the album, a full-length follow-up to the Reset EP.
This penchant for wide-ranging songs also translates to Mute Math's live show, during which Meany says the band experiments electronically, sometimes hitting the mark and other times missing completely.

If the proportioning band is to narrow an oscillation around the setpoint will result.

If you use only proportional action, the main difference between series and ideal algorithms is that some manufacturers use proportional band while others use gain.

The effective proportional band is: PB (effective) = PB/(1 + D/I) The effective integral time is: I (effective) = I + D The effective derivative time is: D (effective) = 1 / (1/I + 1/D)

 Temperature control
The anti-reset windup (ARW) inhibits the integral action until the PV is within the proportional band thus reducing overshoot on start-up.
The controller measures the rate of the temperature increase and moves the proportional band to minimize overshoot.
ARW inhibits the integral action by preventing the controller from moving the proportional band during start-up.

This Montreal-based punk-pop five-piece came together in the mid-'90s, when singer Pierre Bouvier and drummer Chuck Comeau founded rowdy punk outfit Reset at the age of 13.
Two years later, however, Comeau put his studies on hold to start making music again with his high school friends, guitarists Jeff Stinco and Sebastien Lefebvre.
