She is duly, yet spectacularly, captured, and shipped off to a remote Island which is conveniently remote enough to house one mad toff, hordes of the undead, and plenty of scientists for them to chew on.
Whereas the Resident Evil remake incorporated massive improvements, making it scary as hell, a true GC essential, the subsequent titles to hit the console have seemed like the gaming equivalent of a little boy in a white sheet mumbling something about trick or treat.

When I first played through the demo of Resident Evil: Code Veronica, I was impressed with the opening movie and the level of detail on the in-game rendered characters.
And similar in style to Resident Evil 2 when you switch characters, you are only able to access those items which the other character has left for you to get.

Although the Resident Evil games are some of the most enjoyable games I've ever played the constricting camera viewpoints always irked slightly, However with the 3D muscle of the Dreamcast all that's a thing of the past.
Instead of static backgrounds that were merely a picture RECV has beautiful 3 dimensional backgrounds that can pan from side to side and even zoom in and out, and although the flicking between cameras has been retained from the earlier games the new complete 3Dness of the game makes things sooo much easier and convincing.
Anyone who has played any of the Resident Evil series, from the original gore fest of the mansion lab, through the RPD station and the sewers, up until the destruction of Racoon City and the seeming end to the T- and G-virus', will know how great these games are.

In the case of Code: Veronica, Claire Redfield is the character on the run (control later switches to a couple of other characters including her brother Chris) and Umbrellas island prison facility serves as the initial backdrop.
Despite being peppered with cutting edge prerendered, CG (computer generated) full-motion videos (almost worthy of Final Fantasy Movie-like recognition) that progress the story along, Code: Veronica is still largely a puzzle-driven (as opposed to plot driven) experience.
