In discussing the population for Resort Township, however, it is important to note that the figure presented by the 1990 Census does not reflect the actual number of persons residing in the Township during the summer months.
Age distribution figures for Resort Township from the 1990 reflect a population which is slightly younger than that of Emmet County, and is similar in age distribution to State of Michigan as a whole.
Township residents 65 years and older were also surveyed, and results show that nearly 23 percent of the group have a mobility or self-care limitation.

Richard Baldermann, administrator of the Michigan Department of Treasury's local audit and finance division, told township officials last week he is concerned about their delay in completion and filing of the township's annual financial audits for the fiscal years 1998-1999 and 1999-2000.
Baldermann said while annual township audits are generally expected to be complete and results submitted to the state within months of the end of a fiscal year, his department has yet to receive Resort Township's for years ending in 1999 and 2000.
Resort Township treasurer Marv Veurink said he and township clerk Lucy Epler were "in the dark" about the missing audits.
