The present paper reports some preliminary results of an on-going investigation which focuses the cognition process by which academic tests organize, relate and understand professional experience, specially, those who are focused on quality of communication as part of the field of quality management.
This presentation aims to show the results of an analysis that explores the interpersonal features in legal discourses, focusing modality; it is interested in the way Brazilian lawyers use the Portuguese language to convince judges to reformulate their decisions.
Results suggest that most of the uses of modality express meanings of obligation and necessity, in both negative and positive propositions, realized by modal operators such as não pode, deve, and tem que in Brazilian Portuguese (corresponding to can't, must and should, in English).

 IDABC - ES: E-voting systems successfully tested in Catalan elections
Three e-voting pilot tests were successfully conducted during the elections to the Parliament of Catalonia in Spain on 16/11/2003.
E-voting through touch-screen machines: 1,592 citizens voted electronically in five municipalities and results were known five minutes after the end of voting operations.
Results were known six minutes after the end of the election.

With 99 percent of the vote counted, the Catalan nationalist Convergence and Union Party was projected to take 46 seats in the 135-seat parliament; the Socialists, 42 seats; the Republican Left, 23; Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar's ruling Popular Party, 15; and the Leftist Initiative for Catalonia, 9.
Voters were picking a 135-seat legislature in a hotly contested election that will give Catalans their first new leader in almost a quarter century.
