To serve justice, the law calls for evidence of the mental state at the time a crime is committed, of suicide intent in civil litigation, and of mental capacity in contract litigation.
The law asks psychiatrists and psychologists to retrospectively determine mental states—a daunting task made even more difficult by the passage of time, the uncertain credibility of witnesses, the paucity of collateral sources of information, and often the death of the person in question.

 Orbis Cataloging Manual: Retrospective Conversion
Retrospective conversion of bibliographic records into machine readable form consists of two different processes: deriving from an existing machine readable record; creating a machine readable record from a Yale source record.
Retrospective conversion of multipart monographs is performed routinely as recataloging for added volumes; retrospective conversion for serials is performed routinely for title changes.
When retrospective conversion is done for one location, there is no requirement that all locations or even other known locations be added to the Orbis copy holdings at the same time.

 Legal Definition of Retrospective
This word is usually applied to those acts of the legislature, which are made to operate upon some subject, contract or crime which existed before the passage of the acts, and they are therefore called retrorospective laws.

The 22 tracks on Retrospective deftly chronicle the best years of the Animals, who were far and away the grittiest band in the British Invasion of the mid-1960s.
Of course the Animals were more than their three greatest hits (but those are three really good songs for one group to have recorded), and "Retrospective" is a reminder of that.
So, overall, "Retrospective" does have all of the group's hits, at least those defined by making the Billboard singles chart, which explains why I have started listening to more of their songs than the big three.

The photograph on the cover of Retrospective 1982-2002, the new overview CD by Cedar Rapids’ Gayla Drake Paul, might at first seem to be a concession to modern marketing.
While not put together as a cohesive artistic statement, this makes a certain amount of sense; the four tracks from her two all-instrumental records provide a nice break in the middle of Retrospective, and by the time they’re done, listeners will be wanting more of Paul’s full, round vocals.
