  Daily Bible Study - Reuben
Reuben, from the Hebrew name pronounced reh-oo-bane, was the firstborn son of Jacob/Israel and Leah, the grandson of Isaac and Rebekah, and the great-grandson of Abraham and Sarah.
Reuben is the origin of one of the twelve tribes of Israel, the Reubenites.
Reuben was Jacob/Israel's actual firstborn from among the 2 wives and 2 concubines in the family (Genesis 29:32), and as such would have inherited all of the natural rights of primogeniture.

Reuben, son of Jacob - Biblical people
Reuben was the first child of Jacob and Leah, and the founder of the tribe of Reuben.
But Reuben lost the privileges that traditionally were given to first-born sons because he had an affair with Bilhah, who was his father's concubine (Genesis 35:22).
And the loss of life from that rebellion helps to explain why the population of the Tribe of Reuben dropped from 46,500, to 43,730 during the time between the two censuses that were taken in Numbers 1:21 and Numbers 26:7.

 Reuben
According to this passage Reuben acted in an inappropriate manner, but he was not guilty of the heinous crime of taking his father's wife, merely involving himself unjustifiably in his father's personal affairs, is considered tantamount to actually have violated her.
Reuben's failure is attributed to this action, he is labeled "unstable," and his status as Jacob's primary heir was forfeited due to this indiscretion.
Reuben's concern with the number of children in the family could also be related to the fact that, as first born, he would receive a double portion, again ironically lost and given to Joseph instead.

Jesusfreakhideout.com: John Reuben, "Hindsight" Review   (Site not responding. Last check: )
Reuben exercises his feelings of confidence in his work by letting loose on "Soundman." The fun shout-out to the man behind the boards has potential to be more fun than it is, but the seemingly endless chorus runs itself into the ground before too long.
Reuben appears to be flexing his ego on "Doin'" as the crowd-sung chorus proclaims "Reuben, what is he dippidy doin'?" I had originally interpreted this song as an arrogant ego trip for Reuben until he quickly corrected me. "Doin'" is in fact a mockery of emcees fronting inflated egos.
With that said, John Reuben's newest album may not be up to par with his previous work, but there's still just enough punchy beats and fun packed into its 50 minute length to satisfy the Reuben fans.
