Reversal film after processing is more scratch resistant than negative film, a big plus in the editing process when film material has to be handled repeatedly.
Reversal film is not placed in a bath of fixer or hypo after being developed, thus that part of the emulsion which would have been dissolved in a fixer bath remains as a positive image.

After developing, the images are ready for immediate screening and is usually a one-of-a-kind reel of film that should be carefully protected as if it were a negative.
Reversal was popular because the cost of a print was not necessary but the down side of reversal is that it's a little tricky to process and few labs develop it anymore.

EASTMAN EKTACHROME Film (Tungsten) 7240 is a high-speed color reversal camera film intended for use in tungsten light and in daylight with an appropriate filter.
The film's primary application is color news photography, but you can also use it for nighttime sporting events, for industrial photography with existing light, and for high-speed photography both by daylight and by artificial light.
When processed as a reversal film, you can use the resulting positive for projection or for duplication; processed as a negative material by conventional methods, the film will yield satisfactory results, although with some loss in speed and an increase in granularity.

 8mm Film Gauges
Double 8mm, called such because the film is 16mm's wide, with perforations that are identical in size and pitch to that of 16mm film....although with an extra perforation which is required since the 8mm frame is 1/4th that of a 16mm frame.
After processing, the film is slit down the middle yielding two lengths of 8mm width movie film, which are spliced together in their order of the first half in front, yielding a total length of projection footage in either 50ft(from 25ft spools), 100ft(from 50ft spools...now long discontinued in use), and 200ft (from 100ft spools).
This film gauge was referred to as Standard 8mm or 8mm for many years until Super 8mm came along in 1964, which after it was referred to as Regular 8mm here in the USA to separate it from Super 8mm.
