Cracking the Cover-up - Bill Hamilton
He was the young man who stepped forward courageously stating that he worked on a very top secret reverse engineering project at a super secret underground facility near Groom Lake and closer to Papoose Lake known as S-4.
I have even met a computer engineer who works on contract for the Navy at Area 51 who has reverse engineered an alien device.
Other sources have said that the S-4 facility is just as Bob describes it to be and that reverse engineering is conducted there in secret.

 PCB Reverse Engineering
The need for reverse engineering or re-engineering printed circuit boards (PCB's) comes about for a variety of reasons chief among them is the need to replace an obsolete board that is no longer available from the original manufacturer (OEM).
Often companies employ us to reverse engineer their own designs, because they have little or no documentation for their own product or their current design firm or manufacturer refuses to release design details and manufacturing files.
New and improved components and techniques may be utilized during the reverse engineering process improving operations, maintenance and support.

 Reverse Engineering
Reverse engineering is not designed to capture all the information in a source file.
Use reverse engineering to capture and display the class hierarchy of a class library so that you can reuse the classes in the library.
To position the classes, reverse engineering uses a uniform grid whose squares are the size of the largest class in the group and its longest association.

Amazon.co.uk: Reversing: Secrets of Reverse Engineering: Books
Beginning with a basic primer on reverse engineering-including computer internals, operating systems, and assembly language-and then discussing the various applications of reverse engineering, this book provides readers with practical, in-depth techniques for software reverse engineering.
The book is broken into two parts, the first deals with security-related reverse engineering and the second explores the more practical aspects of reverse engineering.
In addition, the author explains how to reverse engineer a third-party software library to improve interfacing and how to reverse engineer a competitor's software to build a better product.

 Chilling Effects Clearinghouse: Reverse Engineering
Reverse engineers must carefully consider their planned work and whether it fits into the exception, because the exception is far too narrow to be useful for many reverse engineering needs.
Reverse engineering is also an invaluable teaching tool used by researchers, academics and students in many disciplines, who reverse engineer technology to discover, and learn from, its structure and design.
Although some reverse engineering techniques require making a copy of the software being investigated, an act that would otherwise be considered a copyright violation, copyright law has allowed these reverse engineering copies as a form of "fair use." Increasingly, however, contract clauses forbidding reverse engineering are included in technology licenses.

 Reverse Engineering and Program Understanding
Reverse engineering is the process of creating a blueprint of a machine to discern its rules by looking only at the machine and its behavior.
Reverse engineering is a powerful tool that hackers can use to compromise the security of your business.
A good reverse engineer attempts to understand the details of software, which by necessity involves understanding how the overall computing machinery that the software runs on functions.

 FinalReport.doc
Perhaps after reverse engineering multiple instances of the software the attacker could gain enough insight into the transformation process to develop a general attack that would succeed against any instance of transformed software.
Consequently, hackers who were able to reverse engineer a single instance of the software were assured that any attack they developed would apply universally to all instances of that particular product.
If instances of the code are sufficiently distinct, we expect that the work required to reverse engineer N instances will be linear in N. Thus, as the number of unique instances of the original code increases, the complexity of compromising the entire software system increases.

Engineers use this information for many purposes, including making other products interoperate with the target product that is the subject of the reverse engineering.
The term "reverse engineering" means the discovery by engineering techniques of the underlying ideas and principles that govern how a machine, computer program or other technological device works.
We further believe that lawful reverse engineering of computer programs is fundamental to the development of programs and software-related technology.

 Reverse Engineering
