This Revolution Movie Review at Hollywood Video
He is a documentary filmmaker to begin with, and that is exactly what his movie threatened to turn into on the day he, Dawson, and costar Viga Brigita Grosgalvis were all arrested for real as they tried to film a scene amidst an actual demonstration.
Chloe, in her contempt for dissent, and Bob, in his embrace of profits over ethics, are simply evil, while all of the protesters and leftist pundits—including Marshall in a small role in which he prefers to hector directly into the camera—are noble as they spout cliché after cliché.
This is not so much a movie as a lecture, and it is not exactly designed to open a dialogue with anyone who does not agree with Marshall's views.

Social and political revolutions can both be characterised by violence, and the vast changes in power structures that result can often result in further, institutionalised, violence, as in the Russian and French revolutions (with the "Purges" and "the Terror", respectively).
A political revolution is the forcible replacement of one set of rulers with another (as happened in France and Russia), while a social revolution is the fundamental change in the social structure of a society; many would point to the Spanish Revolution, which occurred parallel to the Spanish Civil War, as an example of this.
A revolution is normally considered to be a relatively swift change: for example, in Spain, in 1936, anarchist and communist groups quickly took control of many areas on the first day of the Civil War (triggered by Franco's attempted coup).

The New Yorker: The Critics: A Critic At Large   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
The movie is intense and languid, gritty and dreamy, sexy and silly, sentimental and pretentious, didactic and inconclusive—that is, pure Bertolucci.
The movie was screened during the Critics’ Week at Cannes in 1964, where it won prizes and was identified by French critics as “an homage to the school of the Cahiers,” which it certainly was.
His kind of revolution is just a chapter in the bourgeois family romance (thus the incest: it violates the norms of the nuclear family).

 MIM Movie Review
Later in the movie the main character marries an older party member: she says she is doing it to provide some structure for her son.
In fact, Mao criticized the ultraleftists in the Cultural Revolution for their line of "criticize all, overthrow all." He said that they went too far and were too violent when struggle should have been carried out without violence and when people should have been rectified rather than punished.
But if you have not studied up on the Cultural Revolution and do not yet know why the people were encouraged to criticize their leaders, you would be better off sending $8 to MIM for a copy of Jean Daubier's book, *The History of the Chinese Cultural Revolution*, rather than seeing this misleading movie.

Revolution (1985)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
I've just seen "Revolution" on TV and I have to say that it's a much better movie than one may think.
"Revolution" is also an important film because there are only about a dozen films on the Revolutionary War and almost all of them are a matter of obscurity - at least for a Hungarian movie lover.
When "Revolution" was released it was a critical and commercial disaster.

This is an excellent follow-up to a set of three movies entitled "Triumph of the Nerds", which details the development and successes of Microsoft, Apple, the Internet, IBM PCs, Altair, etc, but which came out in the mid-1990s, and doesn't mention much about Linux.
A Revolution in Four-Part Harmony tells the story of protest music in South Africa--but as it does so, it tells the story of the struggle against apartheid itself, for the music and the revolution are inseparable.
The movie itself is of pretty marginal quality, it's pretty much a low budget documentary, but it has a lot of good content.

PORTRAYING REVOLUTION: A COMPARISON OF "BURN" AND "CUBA"
The revolution is a thinly veiled excuse for a mediocre love affair between Sean Connery, as a former British intelligence officer assigned to advise Batista's army in the suppression of the revolution, and an aristocratic Cuban woman, played by Brooke Adams.
The first half of the movie is the story of Sir William Walker, a British Admiralty expert, who travels to the Portuguese island colony of Quemada to foment revolution as a means of replacing Portuguese control with British commercial domination.
However, as the counter-revolutionary phase of the movie develops, Walkerís white gowns and blouses become progressively soiled and dirty, as his hands might be guilt of the atrocities he is committing.

In the beginning of the movie, after the ebakanezzer (ship morh, and neo are on) land in Zion, a GIANT party erupts from the 250,000 humans inhabiting the great underground city.
But for a movie like the Matrix, it all just did not make sense to me, and I feel it would of been better to just cut that scene into 1/3 of what it was.
Nevetheless I enjoyed watching this movie as much as the first (and the first was my favorite movie) and given the options they had for a sequel i felt this was a great path.

Animefringe: December 2004 - Features - Submarine 707 Revolution: The Movie
Submarine movies should really be an action-adventure category of their own, as Submarine 707 Revolution: The Movie falls well with movies such as The Hunt for Red October and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
Submarine 707 Revolution also shows how both sides are justified in their goals from their own point of view, with the USR desiring a cleaner, better world, and the PKN only wanting peace on the seas.
Obviously, the movie is mainly about the cat and mouse games played between the UX and 707, but we see also into their family lives back at home, giving a human touch to what would have been otherwise a typical submarine action movie.

This is very impressive, considering that Akira, a fourteen-year-old movie, is animated better than most of today's films.
The movie confuses, in that, viewers tend to believe that the story revolves around Tetsuo and his power hungry, childlike behavior.

Although Osamu Tzezuka’s tale of class struggle and revolution in an all too possible future certainly is grand, and the underlying quest for self-discovery is a tried and tested tool of the art of storytelling, somehow the whole thing just doesn’t blend properly.
However this movie is the exception that proves the rule.
Far from being unnoticeable, the computer graphics are boldly and proudly displayed, having been created with just as much care and attention to detail as the rest of the animation but as they are used intelligently, they actually add to the viewing experience rather than detract from it.
