About the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA
New Draft Programme of the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA
One of the most important questions for any revolutionary forces anywhere--and for their allies and supporters--is the question of leaders and leadership.
One of the main points raised by anarchism is that there is no need for, no positive role for, a vanguard party--that such vanguard parties constitute elite and unnecessary hierarchical structures which stand in the way of liberation, and where they come to power such vanguards inevitably become new oppressive and tyrannical ruling cliques.

Revolutionary Communist Party, USA - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Revolutionary Communist Party, USA (RCP, USA), known originally as the Revolutionary Union, is a Maoist communist party formed in 1975 in the United States.
The RCP was formed by former members of the Revolutionary Youth Movement II (RYM II) faction of the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) after the latter fell apart in 1969.
The RCP helped found the Revolutionary Internationalist Movement and is the main voice of support in the United States for fellow RIM participants the Communist Party of Peru (Shining Path) and the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist).

Declaration of the Revolutionary Internationalist Movement (RIM)
Communists are resolute opponents of imperialist war and must mobilise and lead the masses in the fight against preparations for a third world war which would be the greatest crime committed in the history of mankind.
It is important that the revolutionary elements in both kinds of countries be educated to understand the nature of the strategic alliance between the revolutionary proletarian movement in the advanced countries and the national-democratic revolutions in the oppressed nations.
The desire to spread the revolutionary movement of the 1960s to the proletariat and to merge with the workers, inspired to no small degree by the experience of the revolutionary youth in the Cultural Revolution, was a powerful and correct revolutionary sentiment which, however, became stifled and distorted under the influence of economism.

The RCP and the Mass Line
It seems to me that what happened is that the mass line got discredited in the eyes of the RCP as a result of a big struggle in their midst during 1977-78.
Yes, it deserves to be called the revolutionary pole in the struggle with the RWH folks.
Neither grasps that there is a better way, a dialectical method, which allows a Marxist party to both continue revolutionary education, and to engage with the masses in their actual day-to-day struggles, and bring the light of revolution to them in the course of those struggles.

A veteran of the Free Speech Movement and the revolutionary upsurges of the 1960s and early 1970s, he worked closely with the Black Panther Party.
From his life experience and revolutionary perspective comes a profound sense of the struggles and sentiments among the masses of people; and he keeps his finger on the pulse of the movements of opposition in society and more broadly.
This is a revolutionary leader who has said about leadership: “if you don’t have a poetic spirit — or at least a poetic side — it is very dangerous for you to lead a Marxist movement or be the leader of a socialist state.”

It is also because the Party has a rich experience and history, a deep understanding of the long-range forces that are at work and a clear vision of what is possible if the corporate-right-wing coalition is defeated and labor and its allies are able to take the offensive.

And all this could be having the effect of raising the consciousness and the organized strength of masses of people to a far higher level, with the necessary goal of revolution more clearly and sharply in view.
