Roberts - Limits of popular radicalism
However, as late as 1939 the party was still theoretically committed to a revolutionary strategy for the conquest of power by the working class led by a revolutionary Marxist party, a strategy that would entail a violent struggle in which there would be a radical break with capitalism and its institutions.
The party's decision to launch a campaign for affiliation came at a time when the party was committed to subordinating all politics to the war effort and at a moment when communists were ending their marginalisation in the labour movement.
The memo's premise was that the party had `to give leadership on all questions of the future after victory which are deeply occupying the minds of the masses and affect the will to victory.' However, for the time being the party would restrict itself to general propaganda and particular campaigns around current issues.

Marxism and the British Labour Party: On the history of entrism
Despite the fact that the ILP had split from the Labour Party at the wrong time and on the wrong issues, at that stage it was still a party with considerable support, and contained within it many thousands of workers looking for a revolutionary alternative.
The main orientation during the war, however, was as an open party, first the WIL and then the Revolutionary Communist Party (RCP).
Faced with the size of the Labour Party and the Communist Party, and with the painfully small forces at the disposal of the Marxists at that time, the question was posed of attempting to attract the best workers to the small group in the quickest way possible.

 MAY DAY 2002
Now it’s a fact that all the wealth of Britain and all the wealth of the world is produced by workers slaving away in the fields and mines, or pushing levers in factories.
The New Communist Party of Britain and the Revolutionary Communist Party of Britain (Marxist-Leninist) held a joint May Day celebration in London’s Marx House on 6th May. The following is the speech made by NCP General Secretary Andy Brooks at that meeting.
The lesson of those epic struggles is that socialism can only be won through revolution and that revolution can only be led by a revolutionary party.

 sp000041.txt
Since only the economic organizations of the proletariat are capable of achieving this objective, revolutionary unionism addresses itself to workers in their capacity as producers, creators of social wealth, to take root and develop amongst them, in opposition to the modern workers' parties, which it declares are incapable of the economic reorganization of society.
Revolutionary unionism considers that along with the disappearance of a property owning caste, must come the disappearance of central ruling caste; and that no form of statism, however camouflaged, can ever be an instrument for human liberation, but that on the contrary, it will always be the creator of new monopolies and new privileges.
Finally, revolutionary unionism advocates the preventive and revolutionary general strike as a means of opposing war and militarism.

The Wealth of Nations - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Of all the innovative theories and observations in The Wealth of Nations, perhaps none was as trenchant (and as revolutionary for the economic thinking of the time) as Smith's recasting of the results of a mercantile transaction.
The Wealth of Nations was published in 1776, during the The Age of Enlightenment.
Up until The Wealth of Nations it was generally accepted that in any economic transaction one side always "won." In other words, either the buyer or seller got to "put one over" on his "opponent" — one went home happy, the other went home and eventually got angry at himself for being a dupe.

By expropriating the movable and immovable wealth of the Armenians, the CUP also looked upon its policy of genocide as a means for enriching its coffers and rewarding its cohorts.
