The little MiG-21 would have had a hard job carrying the claimed "one 37-mm cannon in the nose and a 30-mm cannon in the along the fuselage" (sic) when the standard gun armament was of course the neat little twin-barrelled GSh-23.
The American Armament Company is described as the "prime producer of cannons when the seeds of World War II were being sown in the late 1930s" but the only thing that AAC was good at was publicity; their guns were technical failures never adopted by the USA.

Not quite sure how it functions on a 30mm cannon though, but seeing as this is a 'revolver operated' weapon, I imagine the cartidges are held in a revolver, that is open in the back, and rotates after each shot, placing a new in the firing position.
In the case of both a cannon shell and a rocket propellant gases are generated which impart kinetic energy to the projectile.
This would explain why it must use a revolver type action, if there's little or no back force on the casing itself, the weapon must be operated in a somewhat unconventional way.

Rheinmetall AG - 10/03/2005: Skyranger — the self-propelled multi-mission system against air and ground targets
Short system reaction times, a management system optimised for modern threat scenarios and high flexibility in the selection of effectors, combine to guarantee the protection of rapid reaction forces, peacekeeping troops and mechanised units, as well as stationary assets.
As well as providing heightened security and survivability, this enables optimum positioning of the individual Skyranger systems on the ground: the effectors can be deployed to get the most of lethality out of their zone, while the radar systems can be placed in order to exploit their maximum range.

While captured German designs (principally the Mauser MG213C) showed the potential of the single-barrel revolver cannon, practical rate of fire was still limited by ammunition feed and barrel wear concerns.
With multiple barrels, the rate of fire per barrel could be lower than a single-barrel revolver cannon while still giving a superior total rate of fire.
