Reynolds County was organized out of Washington County, February 25, 1845.
The first settlement in the section now comprising Reynolds County was made in 1812 by Henry Fry, a Kentuckian, who settled near the mouth of Three Forks, and some years later, Seth Hyatt and James Logan settled on Logan's Creek.
Until 1830 it was part of Ripley County, then it was attached to Washington, later to Shannon, and was organized as Reynolds County by legislative act, approved February 24, 1845.

Reynolds County, MO The Brushy Creek Mine is one of the largest and most famous mines in the Viburnum Trend Mining District, the largest galena deposit in the world.
The large crystal in the first two close-ups is 1 cm, and it's a compound crystal.
However, in person the color is a lot more intense, and the luster on this (and on all of the other specimens) is much better.

In the 1930s when Work Projects Administration projects helped counties in building new courthouses, it was out of the question for Reynolds since there were insufficient funds to sponsor the county share.

Typical contact to the base but the main crystal looks okay, if you want to get REALLY picky there are just a couple of miniscule rubs to a few of the edges, these can be seen barely in the photos.
Only a small rub to the matrix is found, this can be seen in the top left corner of the specimen, but could be displayed to hide this.

TC-15 Calcite and Quartz - Buick Mine, Bixby, Iron County, Missouri $25; This is really similar to the previous specimen except the odd end of the double terminated calcite crystal is wonderfully split a couple times.
TC-20 Quartz - Buick Mine, Bixby, Iron County, Missouri $15; This specimen has good sized crystals for the Trend, and is about as aesthetic as a quartz gets from here.
