The RhB (Rhaetian Railway / Rhätische Bahn (German) / Ferrovia Retica (Italian) / Viafier Retica (Rumantsch)) has the largest network of all the private railways in Switzerland.
The company operates most of the railways in the south-easternmost canton of Graubunden (German), Grigioni (Italian), Grischun (Rumantsch), or Grisons (French/English) - the Federal Railways SBB-CFF-FFS only extend a few kilometres over the cantonal border to the capital at Chur.

When you rent an automobile, you drive up a twisting and congested mountain road (through nice scenery, but you have to watch the road) and find a place to park in a nearly full parking lot.

Never one to do something easy, I have chosen the Engadine line of the Rhaetian Railways as my prototype.
The RhB is a Swiss electrified metre gauge railway.
This definitely an exotic choice for a resident of Canada but I find the combination of mountain narrow gauge and electrification extremely compelling.

My railway has about 150' of mainline and eight switches, each designed and built for the space it occupies -- no two alike.
I'll go you one better...would Garden Railways be interested in a article about SPLINE roadbed and the method I use for building track on top of same?
