Rhapsody - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In poetry, a rhapsody is an epic poem, or part of one, that is suitable for recitation at one time, such as a book of Homer's Odyssey.
Generally, a rhapsody is an effusion, such as a speech, letter, or poem, that is composed under excitement and is without connected thought or sound argument.

Hungarian Rhapsodies - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Hungarian Rhapsodies, (S/G244, R106) Rapsodies hongroises or Ungarische Rhapsodien) are a set of pieces of music by Franz Liszt, originally for solo piano.
In their original piano form, the Hungarian Rhapsodies are noted for their difficulty (Liszt was a virtuoso pianist as well as a composer).
It became a permanent part of cartoon history with its use in Friz Freleng's Rhapsody in Rivets (1941), where the construction of a skyscraper is synchronized to the rhapsody.

In ancient Greece, rhapsodes were a class of reciters of epic poems, especially those of Homer, who performed at festivals.
It is enough to say, without applying this poetical rhapsody to Aouda, that she was a charming woman, in all the European acceptation of the phrase.
And probably the half-unconscious rhapsody was a Fetichistic utterance in a Monotheistic setting; women whose chief companions are the forms and forces of outdoor Nature retain in their souls far more of the Pagan fantasy of their remote forefathers than of the systematized religion taught their race at later date.

That's why Rhapsody Rabbit doesn't work for me. This is a nasty version of Bugs: when an offscreen member of the recital audience keeps coughing, Bugs pulls out a gun and shoots him.
At the cartoon's end, Bugs is cowed by all the notes in the rhapsody's final measures, prays and is about to attempt to complete the performance, when it is instead finished by the mouse, now wearing tails and playing energetically at a tiny piano.
I'd say that Rhapsody Rabbit seems more like a vehicle for Daffy Duck, who is more suited to occasionally playing the villain and bullying mice (as he has repeatedly tried with Speedy Gonzales).

 Welcome to The Florida Orchestra
Although many people will never attend a live performance of a Rossini opera, such as ""The Barber of Seville'' or ""William Tell,'' they might be familiar with snippets of the music.
The ""Largo al Factotum'' from ""Barber'' was heard in the 1949 Bugs Bunny classic ""Long-Haired Hare,'' and a year later, the Overture popped up in ""Rabbit of Seville.'' Of course, everybody knows ""William Tell'' as the theme from ""The Lone Ranger.'' Expect to hear these pieces this week.
Hearing these pieces as cartoon soundtracks is one thing, Haig says, but hearing them as pure music played by an orchestra will reveal them as marvelous creations that stand the test of time.
