The Town of Rhinebeck was established in 1788 as one of the original towns in the county.
The west town line, marked by the Hudson River is the border of Ulster County, New York.
In the town the population was spread out with 20.3% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 25.4% from 25 to 44, 25.7% from 45 to 64, and 22.8% who were 65 years of age or older.
