''Rhipidura'' Fantails are small, insectivorous birds of Australasia belonging to the genus ''Rhipidura''.
Note that the true wagtails are part of the genus ''Motacilla'' and family Motacillidae and are not particularly close relatives of the fantails.
It was previously classified with the Old World flycatcher family Muscicapidae, but the paradise flycatchers, monarch flycatchers and Australasian fantails are now normally grouped with the drongos in the family Dicruridae, which has most of its members in Australasia and tropical southern Asia.

BirdForum - Grey Fantail for DB
Regardless as per the identity of Richard's nice shot (still trying to convince myself that it is not a male Rhipidura rufiventris isura), the Database should be amended and a new slot created for all of the birds hearkening from Australia, including Tasmania, that may be labeled as Grey Fantail - Rhipidura fuliginosa.
Now, Rhipidura fuliginosa (for the SM) is restricted to New Zealand birds, i.e., New Zealand Fantail (this common name should also be changed) = Rhipidura fuliginosa.
Rhipidura phasiana - see objections above bird, but here the supercilium should extend farther both toward the lores and toward the nape and with slightly less evident wing-bars.

The Grey Fantail is similar to the Willie Wagtail (Rhipidura leucophrys) but it’s slightly smaller and has shades of grey on the body and wings.
There is also a white patch on the throat not seen on the Willie Wagtail and the tips of most of the tail feathers are also white.
The Grey Fantail can also be confused with the Northern Fantail (Rhipidura rufiventris) which rarely fan their tails and perch on horizontal branches.
