  Strabo's Geography 4.1
Of the two gulfs, the larger, into which the mouth of the Rhodanus discharges, is again called, in the proper sense of the term, "Galatic Gulf"; the smaller is opposite Narbo and extends as far as the Pyrenees.
This lake was by some counted in with the mouths of the Rhodanus, and particularly by those who said there were seven mouths, although they were right in neither the latter nor the former; for there is a mountain intervening which separates the lake from the river.
In the first place, the voyage which the Rhodanus affords inland is a considerable one, even for vessels of great burden, and reaches numerous parts of the country, on account of the fact that the rivers which fall into it are navigable, and in their turns receive most of the traffic.

 Strabo's Geography 4.3
Lugdunum itself, then, (a city founded at the foot of a hill at the confluence of the River Arar and the Rhodanus), is occupied by the Romans.
The city of Lugdunum presides over the tribe of the Segusiavi, which tribe is situated between the Rhodanus and the Dubis.
It flows into the ocean, however, running parallel to the Rhenus, through a tribe of like name, whose country joins the Rhenus in its eastern parts, but in the opposite parts, the Arar; and it is from their country that the finest of salted hog-meat is brought down and shipped to Rome.

 Allobroges - LoveToKnow 1911
usually 'AXX6 puyes), a Celtic tribe in the north of Gallia Narbonensis, inhabiting the low ground called the " island " between the Rhodanus, the Isara and the Graian Alps, corresponding to the modern Dauphine and Savoy.
After the subjugation of the Salluvii (Salyes) by the Romans in 123 B.C., having given shelter to their king Tutomotulus and refused to surrender him, the Allobroges were attacked and finally defeated (August 8, 121) at the junction of the Rhodanus and Isara by Q. Fabius Maximus (afterwards Allobrogicus).
But they still remained hostile to Rome, as is shown by the conduct of their ambassadors in the Catilinarian conspiracy (63; see Catiline); two years later a revolt under Catugnatus was put down by Gaius Pomptinus at Solonium.

Hamilcar Rhodanus - WCD (Wiki Classical Dictionary)
Hamilcar Rhodanus, was sent by the Carthaginians to the court of Alexander the Great after the fall of Tyre, 332 BC (J 21.6).
He was probably sent as ambassador to deprecate the wrath of the king for the assistance given to the Tyrians, or to ascertain the disposition of Alexander towards Carthage, in the same manner as we again find a Carthaginian embassy at his court just before his death (D 17.113).

 Narbonensis
In the south the principle tribes were the Volcae, who lived in the Rhodanus (Rhone) river valley, the Allobroges, who lived in the Alpine foothills, and the Arverni who lived in the hills west of the Rhodanus.
Moving north along the Rhodanus (and the road that runs along side it) one reaches Vienna (Vienne) and then Lugdunum (which is in the Province of Gallia Lugdunensis).
Its position at the junction of the Via Domita and the Rhodanus River make it center of trade between Rome and Hispania and the point where all military goods flowing to Germany must eventually pass.

Radhanite - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Others maintain that their center was the city of Rayy (Rhages) in northern Persia.
Cecil Roth and Claude Cahen, among others, make the same claim about the Rhône River valley in France, which is Rhodanus in Latin.
The latter claim that the center of Radhanite activity was likely in France as all of their trade routes began there.

Hilary there made a noble confession of the Nicene Faith, and refuted the heresy of Arius; but the party of Saturninus, reinforced by Bishops from the neighboring countries, was too strong for him, and he was condemned and deposed; and immediately afterwards the Emperor Constantius banished him into Phrygia.
He left Gaul early in AD 356, in company with Rhodanus, Bishop of Toulouse, whom God called from those evils to His kingdom, soon after their arrival in Phrygia.
His departure was followed by a cruel persecution of the Gallican clergy; but nothing could daunt their constancy, or prevail on them to communicate with the enemies of S. Hilary and the Nicene Faith, or to fill up his see, which in the eye of the Church was not vacant.

VOLCAE, a Celtic people in the province of Gallia Narbonensis, who occupied the district between the Garumna (Garonne), Cerbenna mons (Cevennes), and the Rhodanus (or even farther to the east in earlier times), corresponding roughly to the old province of Languedoc.
They were divided into two tribes, the Arecomici on the east and the Tectosages (whose territory included that of the Tolosates) on the west, separated by the river Arauris (Herault) or a line between the Arauris and Orbis (Orbe).

 PART 1
Under Gundicar they invaded Gallia A.C. 407, and had seats given them by the Emperor near the Rhine in Gallia Belgica, A.C. They had Saxons among them, and were now so potent, that Orosius A.C. 417 wrote of them: Burgundionum esse praevalidam manum, Galliae hodieque testes sunt, in quibus praesumpta possessione consistunt.
About the year 435 they received great overthrows by Aetius, and soon after by the Hunns: but five years after had Savoy granted them to be shared with the inhabitants; and from that time became again a potent kingdom, being bounded by the river Rhodanus, but afterwards extending much further into the heart of Gallia.
Gundobald conquered the regions about the rivers Araris and Rhodanus, with the territories of Marseilles; and invading italy in the time of the Emperor Glycerius, conquered all his brethren.
