Rhythms of resistance - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rhythms of Resistance or just RoR is a network of percussion bands that play at demonstrations and direct actions that fall within the broad definition of 'anti-capitalist'.
Since RoR London was formed in 2000, various sister-bands throughout Europe (and even the rest of the world) have been spawned, not always sharing the same name, but mostly the same ideology.
Rhythms of Resistance formed as part of the UK Earth First action against the IMF / World Bank Meeting in Prague in September 2000.

The gene that controls ultradian rhythms in worms is related to other genes that, when mutated, cause uncontrolled growth of mammalian cells a hallmark of cancer.
This study suggests that the gene controlling circadian rhythms is a key regulator of the brains reward system and influences the addictive properties of a drug such as cocaine, scientists say.
Circadian rhythms are kept in phase with the external world, most specifically the cycle of day and night, by information relayed from the eye to the brain.

GLOBAL RESISTANCE: We are everywhere - NI 338 - Resistance is the secret of joy
Around the world a new spirit is reinventing tactics of resistance, rejecting the tedium of ritual marches from A to B, the verbose rallies where the party faithful listen passively to long speeches by ‘leaders’.
For if resistance and rebellion are not fun, do not reflect the world we wish to create, we are merely replicating previous repressive struggles which postpone pleasure, along with racial and gender equality, until ‘after the revolution’.
The varied rhythms of resistance have continued since then; a hundred-strong samba rhythm section with home-made shakers made up part of a huge improvised festive bloc in Prague; the notorious Infernal Noise Brigade provided the soundtrack to insurrection in the midst of suffocating teargas and massive police attacks in Seattle and Prague.

 Enron is Theatre
The Enron partnership rhythms are on the move, in a self-organizing complexity since 1997, only unraveling in August, after Skilling resigns as Enron’s CEO, and becoming public scandal in November, when the Big Three stock rating agencies, downgrade Enron to junk bond status.
The role of a critical dramaturgy analysis of rhythms is to demystify Enron's Poetics.
Antenarrative ensembles are rhizomatic rhythms that morph Enron from scandal to scandal since 1987 (Valhalla Rogue Traders and Greenmail) to 2001, when the megaspectacle could not be contained by facade and masquerade.

Formed in spring 2000 as an open carnival bloc in part from the London based group Reclaim the Streets, Rhythms of Resistance (RoR) has become a way of embracing the changing face of protesting and demonstrations that we have seen in across the world over the last five years.
RoR has been a way of exploring the link between art and politics; between carnival and protest.
The fact that there are now RoR sister bands in Holland, Belgium, Spain and the USA show that there are lots of people looking at alternative ways of participating.

The samba ensemble was formed this fall semester, although not as a direct response to the aftermath of Sept. 11 events.
As the rhythmic form of samba is rooted in protest and resistance, many protest groups all over the world have latched on to the idea of percussion as a form of resistance.
Thus, Rhythms of Resistance, which grew out of these two organizations, overcame the problem by forming a samba ensemble consisting of percussionists and instruments that could be transported anywhere.

As you might surmise from knowing that each of these conditions is an independent risk factor for the development of cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome is quickly becoming one of the major public health concerns in the United States due to its increasingly recognized association with cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.
All of these effects are temporary, however, because a person's body quickly becomes tolerant to the effects of nicotine; this is why nicotine is one of the most highly addictive substances known.
Side effects seem to be minimal; however, EECP should not be performed on people with uncontrolled heart failure, uncontrolled irregular heart rhythms, severe heart valve problems, bleeding or blood-clotting problems, severe peripheral vascular disease (very poor circulation to the limbs), or blood clots in the legs.

IngentaConnect Ultradian Rhythms of Tumor Resistance System Activity   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-11)
Ultradian time-dependency of the carcinogenic effect was studied in mice; both the model of transplanted (leukemia EL-4) and that of chemically-induced (urethane-induced lung adenomas) tumor were used.
Ultradian dependency was found also for the number of lymphocytes in the lymphoid organs, the number of karyocytes in bone marrow, the NK activity against tumor cells, the migration index of normal spleen cells in the presence of tumor cells, as well as for the activity of the carcinogen-metabolizing enzyme system.
It is suggested that variations in the natural resistance against transplanted or chemically-induced tumors may be due to the variations in these parameters.
