Ricardo Confessori (São Paulo, Brazil, 1969) started his musical life studying classic piano for 4 years and then gave-up...
Today, though, we can tell time was not his enemy, as he is one of the greatest drummers on the scene, being acclaimed by many musicians and specialized magazines of music and instruments.
Confessori was not the first drummer in Angra.

He called to the Earth, and from the earth was the foundation on which he stood since the beginning, with bassist Luis Mariutti and drummer Ricardo Confessori.
A catchy mid tempo symphonic speed metal anthem as it is, the mid section of this song is breathtaking.
Ricardo lays down a powerful rhythm on the double bass drums, and creates a tenseness with his stick work working the snare and toms alternately.

The frontman Andre Matos, bassist Luis Mariutti, drummer Ricardo Confessori, as well as touring keyboardist Fabio Ribeiro, formed a new band, called Shaman (name of a song from the Holy Land album), and they are on a short tour to promote the new band.
Luis Mariutti keeps on making his good job on bass, Ricardo Confessori porves once again to be one of brazilian best drummers, though his solo was very boring (as most of the drums solos I've ever seen).
But more unexpected was the cover for Metallica's "For Whom the Bell Tolls", with Andre Matos on drums, Ricardo Confessori on the guitar, Hugo Mariutti playing guitar and singing.

It was a well-known fact to the true headbangers (like us!) that Shaman band that appeared in 2000 consisted of the former members of the worldwide known (in Russia as well) Brazilian band - Angra.
They are Andre Matos (Angra's ex-singer and author of quite a few of the old Angra's repertoire) and Angra's ex-rhythm-section in the persons of Luis Mariutti (bass) and Riccardo Confessori (drums) in alliance with Luis' brother Hugo (guitars) and the session-keyboardist Fabio Ribeiro.
However, only the date of the show and the name of the hall found by us on the official website were our guiding star.

Like drummer Ricardo Confessori, Luis is a true metal fan and started listening to hard rock at age 10, when he first heard AC/DC's Back in Black.
Together, Luis and Ricardo share not just the fiery will to play heavy metal, but the desire to play it with power, intensity, finesse, and technical proficiency all at the same time.
The rhythm section they form is the basis for the entire band to explore new horizons of musical creativity.

What makes this band so special is that each instrument has a separate function within each song, in that it’s easy to pick out and hear what each instrument is doing at any time, yet the band manages to combine every aspect of their music into one singular sound that defies the concept of unity.
The twin guitar attack of guitar wizards Kiko Loureiro and Rafael Bittencourt drive the powerful Angra sound, while the drumming of Ricardo Confessori propels the speed and tempo of the band effortlessly and methodically.
Add in the high flying vocal attack of Andre Matos, who has an incredibly high range and can go from a soft, feminine style to a screeching Rob Halford style in the blink of an eye.
