		Ricardo Zonta was once again flying during first practice and bettered his time 7 times during the session finishing in first position just ahead of micheal Schumacher with a time of 1:31.449
		Ricardo had problems with his gear box which caused him to miss most of the second practice he finished with a time of 1m33.443s and in 14th place with 11 laps completed.
		Ricardo had this to say about his practice, “I think we had a good opening practice session this morning, in which we were able to complete everything on our task list, including set-up and balance changes to the car.

		In 1999, Zonta started as an F1 race driver alongside 1997 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve at new team B.A.R. Zonta injured his foot in an accident during practice for the Brazilian Grand Prix, and was forced to miss three races.
		Replaced by Olivier Panis for the 2001 season, Zonta became the third driver for the Jordan team, replacing the injured Heinz-Harald Frentzen for one race, and then again when Frentzen was sacked, but was overlooked to replace him for the remainder of the season.
		Zonta was then hired as test driver for the Toyota F1 team in 2003, retaining the position in 2004.

		The accident that befell Ricardo Zonta in his homeland during practice for the 1999 Grand Prix at Interlagos derailed what had up until then seemed like a career destined for great things.
		Zonta decided to become the Jordan team test driver in 2001 and in the midseason he was called in when Frentzen was injured after a high-speed accident at Monte Carlo.
