The first Sutter Brother to ascend to the NHL was Brian, who debuted with the St. Louis Blues in the 1976/1977 season.
In 1998, the first son of a Sutter Brother, Brian's son Shaun, was drafted by the NHL's Calgary Flames.
The proud parents of the Sutter Brothers are Grace and Louis Sutter.

CAREER NOTES: Rich Sutter was traded from the Pittsburgh Penguins with 2nd and 3rd round 1984 Entry Draft picks (Greg Smyth, David McLay) on 10/23/83 to the Philadelphia Flyers for Andy Brickley, Mark Taylor, Ron Flockhart, and 1st and 3rd round 1984 Entry Draft picks (Roger Belanger, Vancouver's Mike Steves).
Rich was traded from the Vancouver Canucks with Harold Snepts and a 2nd round 1990 Entry Draft pick (from St. Louis, Craig Johnson) on 3/6/90 to the St. Louis Blues for Adrien Plavsic, a 1st round 1990 Entry Draft pick (from Vancouver, Shawn Antoski), and a 2nd round 1991 Entry Draft pick (Montreal's Craig Darby).
Rich was traded from the Chicago Blackhawks with Paul Ysebaert on 2/22/95 to the Tampa Bay Lightning for Jim Cummins, Tom Tilley, and Jeff Buchanan.

Sutter, who will be in town through Saturday’s game against Corpus Christi at Dodge Arena, enjoyed a 13-year NHL career and was a Minnesota Wild scout before the NHL lockout.
The irony of Sutter’s connection to Egeland is he found himself in the Lone Star State, where the North Stars relocated to for the 1993-94 season, becoming the Dallas Stars.

 "The phone kept ringing and Rhonda (Rich's wife) finally got tired of listening to it ring and picked it up," recalls Grace, 67, of the summertime call from Keenan telling the family news it already heard through the media.
