York was the shire town of Yorkshire from 1716 to 1735, the shire town with Portland (then Falmouth) of the district of Maine from 1735 to 1760, and a county-seat of York county from 1760 to I832.

She only gives a page or two to the remainder of Edward IV's reign, and to the story of Richard III and the princes in the tower, and Henry VII's ultimate accession in 1485.
The book does end at an awkward time, as Richard III's assuming the throne is left to "The Princes in the Tower." I view the ending of the Lancastrian and Yorkists disputes finally put to rest in the reign of Henry VIII, rather than at the Battle of Tewkesbury.
