Body Consciousness - Richard Moss Seminars   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-09)
For most of us, unfortunately, our bodies are just extensions of our ego-driven self-images, and we regularly pollute our body consciousness with negative emotions and stress created by the stories we believe about ourselves, others and our world.
In working with body consciousness with Richard, we learn how to let the body lead us into the present through movement, voice, breathing-meditation, and consecrated rituals.
As this subtle body consciousness grows, we acquire the ability to remain present and hold any feelings or sensations gently without reacting and closing down.

 Edge: RICHARD DAWKINS
RICHARD DAWKINS, elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society in May, 2001, is a gifted writer, who is known for his popularization of Darwinian ideas as well as for original thinking on evolutionary theory.
He has invented telling metaphors that illuminate the Darwinian debate: His book The Selfish Gene argues that genes-molecules of DNA-are the fundamental units of natural selection, the "replicators." Organisms, including ourselves, are "vehicles," the packaging for "replicators." The success or failure of replicators is based on their ability to build successful vehicles.
In The Extended Phenotype, he goes beyond the body to the family, the social group, the architecture, the environment that animals create, and sees these as part of the phenotype-the embodiment of the genes.

 CNN.com - Comedian Richard Pryor dies at 65 - Dec 10, 2005
Born Richard Franklin Lennox Thomas Pryor in Peoria, Illinois, on December 1, 1940, the funnyman had long suffered from health problems at the time of his death.
But despite his achievements on the screen and on stage, Pryor is often remembered for seriously burning over half his body while freebasing cocaine -- an incident he later dubbed a suicide attempt.
Even that made its way into his comedy, which his wife said was a common theme in his life -- being able to turn crisis into comedy -- and one that scored big with audiences at his stand-up shows.

A rise in body temperature, for example, kills many bacteria and changes the membrane properties of cells so viruses cannot replicate.
Complicating that decision is that the body is blind, for example, to whether it faces a mild or a life-threatening virus.
As noted, many of the body's own "treatments" are used on a precautionary basis so they can be stopped without harm.

Republicans in Congress and at the White House seem oblivious to the rising threat of communist China and of Vladimir Putin's Russia.
Despite the temporary appointment of conservative John R. Bolton as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, the current GOP leadership keeps shoveling money to the world body despite its refusal to change.
As for the Supreme Court, Bush's failed nomination of Miers, his personal lawyer, represented the breaking of what we took as an explicit promise to appoint more Antonin Scalias and Clarence Thomases, and it was an inexcusable act of cronyism.

 Spiritualism
The philosophy known as Spiritualism is based on the simplistic premise that man is a dual being; consisting of a physical and spiritual component.
The physical element (the body) disintegrates at death, but the spiritual (the "soul", "spirit", personality, consciousness, etc) continues exactly as it was, only in another form of existence: the "Spirit-world" or heaven.
Much on the contrary, if we chose to use similar terms, I could say that we believe the Individuality and the Over Self as being those that survive the death of the body, which dies with the Personality and the Ego that depend on it.
