Richard Brooks (May 18, 1912-March 11, 1992) was a Hollywood film writer, director, and (occasionally) producer.
Brooks was born Ruben Sax to Russian Jewish immigrants in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and graduated from West Philadelphia High School, and later Temple University.
Richard Brooks died in 1992 in Beverly Hills, California and was interred in the Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery in Culver City, California.

Richard Brooks (born 1962 in Cleveland, Ohio) is an American actor.
After turning up in The Substitute and terrorizing the undead in The Crow: City of Angels (both 1996), Brooks opted to try his hand at directing, and the result was Johnny B Good.
Brooks is also well-known by some science fiction fans for his appearance on Joss Whedon's Firefly, as Boba Fett-esque bounty hunter Jubal Early in the metaphysical episode "Objects In Space".

Richard R.W. Brooks, a 1988 graduate of Cornell in policy analysis, returned to his alma mater this past fall as an assistant professor in his old department in the College of Human Ecology.
Brooks' research uses economic and legal tools to analyze broad policy issues, such as race and legal enforcement, criminal law, environmental law and accident law.
The Brooks family spent this spring semester in California, where Brooks was a visitor of the law school at U.C. Berkeley and Heidi advanced her doctoral candidacy, but they are returning to Cornell this month for a wonderful Ithaca summer.

Brooks joined New York radio station WNEW as a staff writer in the late 1930s, then moved on to the NBC network writing pool.
Brooks was contractually unable to work on the screenplay adaptation of Brick Foxhole (released in 1947 as Crossfire), but found time to pen a brace of additional novels; he also co-wrote Brute Force (1947) and Key Largo (1948).
Thereafter, Brooks was regarded as an "independent" (though he didn't officially break away from the studio system until 1965), scripting as well as directing such prestige items as Brothers Karamazov (1958) and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
