Richard V. Campagna of Iowa City, Iowa was the vice-presidential nominee of the Libertarian Party in the 2004 U.S. presidential election.
Campagna was chosen at the 2004 Libertarian National Convention along with Libertarian presidential nominee Michael Badnarik.
Campagna has a doctorate degree from American College of Metaphysical Theology, an alternative educational choice, which he opted for after completing virtually all of the requirements for a traditional doctoral degree from various well known institutions such as Columbia University Teachers College and the University of Iowa.

Campagna, a lawyer who has worked in New York, Washington, and now lives in Iowa has met with large and diverse groups of clients during his career.
With these constituencies in mind, Campagna has spent a large portion of his time concentrating on the battleground states in the Mississipi and Ohio river basins.
Campagna plans to supplement his strategy by visiting populous states like New York, California, Illinois and Texas that are not in play but will allow him to raise the raw vote totals for the Libertarian team.

Campagna's misrepresentations are serious, I'm more outraged on behalf of all the people he's been counseling who haven't had access to the fact that his "Dr." title is essentially self-granted and that his degree is from a diploma mill.
Campagna had in fact actually read 20 "full length" books, it's common for diploma mills to have their customers do some pittance of "course work" so that things don't appear to be a complete sham.
Campagna should no longer claim to be a doctor, and should send out a press release explaining and apologizing for the misleading credential.
